True Colors show vs Titans

Today had shown how far away we really are. We are far. Secondary bad, offensive line is horrible, our wide receivers are nothing and Tannehill is NOT the next Marino, he is nothing better than locker. Philbin is not the coach to take us anywhere. You can't suck at home against teams you should beat. We are a 7 and 9 team at best and playoff talk? Really? Puhleeze. This game depreses me I bought the kool aid too.

I am writing this one off as a "WTF" loss. I will blame the coaching staff, but then again, no one goes undefeated, there is always someone with a gameplan to beat you. I still feel good about the staff and Taneyhill. If we have another one like this, I will change my mind.

Ugly, ugly game against 3-6 Tennessee. Embarrasing. Wonder how many fans were there.

RE: True Colors show vs Titans

Can't blame it on the fans.

Really pathetic performance. So much for ireland's great drafting and this time the coaching staff joined in on the "we suck" parade.

Our play has been going downhill for the 4th game in a row and this time it was embarrassing.

We really don't have a secondary to speak of and little pass rush other than Wake but now the offense has grown stale and predictable.

For all of Tannehill's alleged athleticism, he plays like a guy with bad knees. No movement in the pocket at all. If he doesn't roll out, he doesn't move.
With our  receivers total lack of speed, all the pass attempts are short and easy to sit on the routes. Fasano is embarrasingly slow and gets no separation.

Reggie can't run up the middle but we keep doing it. We also favor running plays behind Jerry and Martin and they don't get any push.

Yes, Reggie fumbled but to not implement him in the passing game is pure incompetence.

I focus my criticism on the offense because the pass defense  is too much of a lost cause this year. We got a bunch of guys running around looking lost.

Still want Ireland around for another draft?

Yep....we've got limited weapons as it is, and we sit Bush out, our only explosive weapon - while trying to come back from the beginnings of a rout.  Which means Tannehill must pass more, to even less talented people.  That was brilliant.  You really showed him, coach. eek1

If anything, I would've expected Bush to give even more effort to make up for it. ohlord

I could see the way the defense was playing from the very first series it was not going to be a good game. 6th sense defense - ghost tackles everywhere.  I was about ready to call the Ghosbusters because of apparent paranormal activity on the field.

noidea I could chalk this one up to fluke, if it wasn't for the fact what we saw from the defense in our last game vs. the Colts.  Back to back very scary, frightening defensive showings.  And w/NE and SF coming to town....and even Buffalo after what I saw today.....this has the lookings of the Alamo.

This is the first game I missed this year, but now i'm glad i didn't watch it.  I was thinking this at the colts game last week.  No offense to Luck or Locker, but i'm scared imagining us against Brady if they tore us up like that.

Brady may break a record and get 1000 yards in a game against our secondary!

I am glad that Fisher is not here and I am glad that Payton chose the broncos.

With that said, I admit that I am back to Square 1 with coach Philbin. His team has looked unprepared, with no heart since the jets game. We can lose or win as long as the team shows signs of pride or preparation. Today this dolphin team was completely lost and that was all on Philbin.

By the way, what was Philbin trying to prove by benching His most explosive player while the dolphins were being butchered?

RE: True Colors show vs Titans

Definitely emotions got the best of him. i think he lost it with Incognito's antics.

Obviously coaching wasn't up to snuff. How many times can you do 2 things on offense?
Run the ball up the middle. Throw short, quick passes.

All of Tannehill's pics were from short throws. At this stage i would call QB draws and bootlegs to force Tannehill to run and move around.
That's part of his supposed skillset - mobility. A bunch of teams do that with their QB.
He's like a statue out there.

We're hurting for playmakers.

Reggie needs to be split out catching 6-7 passes a game. Miller needs catches to take advantage of his speed (although he looks scared)
Egnew, the TE draft pick, is big, fast and athletic. How can he be that useless?

No suggestions for the defense ... beyond repair this year and it ain't coaching.

RE: True Colors show vs Titans

**Sigh** The SKY IS FALLING THE SKY IS FALLING!!!  Philbin Sucks, RTH Sucks, the team sucks, the weather sucks, the election sucks, the uniforms suck, the fans suck.

The GAME sucked.  Horrible game.  Everyone should be held accountable from the coaches down to the waterboy for that performance.  No Excuses.  That I agree with.

What I do NOT agree with is the sky is falling mentality and everything and everyone on this team sucking.  RTH is a rook who made some rook mistakes.  Tennessee came out with a gameplan and they executed it very well especially on D.  We came out completely flat.  Didn't execute, and had our weaknesses exposed.  Defenses are going to load 8 in the box against us because our WR's don't scare anyone.  Offenses are going to throw on our DB's because they can't make plays on the ball even when they cover a receiver.  The team fell behind really early and that killed any gameplan of running the ball so the Titans could tee off on our O-line and they did.

Does yesterday's game negate all the good work that has been done by this coaching staff and team already this year? Hell no, not for me.  Anyone who thinks this team wasn't performing well up until yesterday should give their heads a shake.  Look at the lack of talent at the skill positions on O and D and tell me this team had a lot to work with going into this season.  If you ask me, this coaching staff and the QB have performed miracles up until this past Sunday, so anyone questioning them right now should give their heads a shake.  This team is 4-5, lost 2 OT games in a row, were a dropped INT away from at minimum going into OT last week and had 2 stinker blowout losses against Houston and Tennessee.

So really folks, the sky isn't falling.  If anything, the skies over Miami are a bit brighter than they've been in over a decade.

If you want to isolate the loss and minimize it in terms of "all the good work that has been done", go ahead.

We haven't played particularly well the last 4 games. We just got blown out at home 37-3 by a 2-6 team that came in as a 6 pt underdog that had gotten destroyed the previous week by the Bears.

Right now, everything does suck, but it can change Thursday night against the Bills.

Re: True Colors show vs Titans

No it doesn't negate the progress that we've been making.  IMO I'm still pleased with some of it. But it does expose some serious needs this team still has.  A lot of focus and energy has been on the offense and developing Ryan, and I think meanwhile the defense has a LOT of work to do.  At this point, I'd keep Wake and the other 10 + nickel & dime personnel are all expendable.

I hate saying it because the offense needs more, but I'm leaning towards a draft of a WR and then entirely defense the rest of the way at this point.  If not, the WCO will not work, we'll have to develop a 5 wide out aerial attack to keep up every game.

RE: True Colors show vs Titans

I'm not minimizing I'm putting things in perspective, which seems to be forgotten on here quite a lot.  When this team wins everyone goes batshait crazy happy, when they lose everyone acts like their 1st born was killed by the organization lmao.

After the 2nd year ended under Saban and he left, I made a promise to myself.  I would no longer let the team determine my life and I wouldn't live or die with them.  Don't get me wrong, I love the Dolphins and always will, but ... it's only Football.  If I want to go fishing on a Sunday because the weather is nice then I'm going fishing.  If the woman I am dating (yes, she's real and no I don't pay by the hour, wisea**es) wants to go and spend some 'quality' time together during a game, then I'm choosing the quality time (unless we are kicking the crap out of the Jets, Pats, or Bills ... then we can have 'quality time DURING the game as we watch').

The game stunk, the team played like crap, the past 5 seasons have been mediocre to brutal, maybe we don't get into the SB in my lifetime, and I would be ticked at that, BUT it's only football.  Perspective folks.  Keep it all in perspective.

RE: True Colors show vs Titans

I think our "True Colors" were shown in a sense this game, in that we can all figure out how good the team is.

This team can be as good as the team that killed the Jets, or it can be as bad as the team that got dominated by the Titans. Usually we're somewhere in between.

It comes down to execution and coaching. Philbin and co. deserve a lot of credit for the success we've had, and also deserve a lot of blame for this loss and the shortcomings we've had.
Somebody gave me a Hickey.

A few weeks later and a different story. That was a WTF loss and an aberration. Of course, did the OP post after any wins? Nope. One trick pony. A tired act...

Re: True Colors show vs Titans

haha leave it to NBFF to come back to make me revisit the season with older threads.

I think it's funny to see how I'm normally defensive minded and was so ticked off at what I witnessed two games in a row from our defense vs. Indy and Ten that I said draft a WR and then defense the rest of the way.....but I've since come back around down to earth to just say screw it.........I don't care anymore about our defense, just draft WRs and all offense.  LOL.  I realized I'd rather lose 35-38 then 3-14.  More exciting for fans, anyhow, if u had to pick which way to lose, lol.  And give Ryan more to work with.

And that's my final answer.  *pushes the big red button*  biggrin
