When you were a kid
Did you ever put peanuts in your Coke (7 1/2 oz. bottle)?
Don't panic

Re: When you were a kid
My brother and I would walk about 1/2 mile to the country store once a week, picking up pop bottles on the way. Cashed them in for the deposit and got 2 Lotta Colas (16 oz) out of the cooler and 2 packs of peanuts. Took one good drink out of the bottle and then poured in the peanuts. I do not drink colas anymore, but if I did, I would still put peanuts in the bottle on occasion.

Used to be these pinball machines that paid off. They had a big sticker, though, that said, "for entertainment purposes only". Message boards should have such a sticker.

RE: When you were a kid
I'm not sure why we did it. I think it was more of a convenience thing than anything else--put em in the bottle and you don't have to lug around the bag. I don't remember ever taking long enough to drink the Coke for the peanuts to get soggy.
Don't panic

My dad used to have one of those old fashioned Coke machines in his barber shop. The kind with the lever handle and 7 oz. coke was all it dispensed. When you popped the lid off thee would be a little bit of ice at the top. Those were some powerful swigging! Burned the throat a bit.

RE: When you were a kid
I'm sure I tried it once or twice, but I must not have liked it. My mom loved it, though. She used to lay out by the pool all day with those peanut-cokes. Ah, the 80's.

Re: When you were a kid
i have found one restaurant in Birmingham that serves coke in the small bottles. They are not as good as they used to be, but still better than any other cola drink being sold. I don't drink many soft drinks, but I always make an exception for bottle coke. KSRbadrose wrote:
