Re: Patrick Towles it is!

He's got two weeks before the season starts then two non-bcs opponents. Hopefully the next four weeks of reps will show more improvement. We need him to be on his game for Florida.

Re: Patrick Towles it is!

Also Towles is the most talented QB we have had since Woodson in my opinion. Hartline was a very good QB but I think Towles with three years will end up having the better career. I am very excited to see him play over the next three years. He has the frame to hold up over the course of the season and the arm to be able to keep the job. I hope he finally brings stability.

I'm proud of that guy for sticking with it and not pulling a Mossakowski. Matt Jones and others were talking matter of factly that he was gonna transfer. Not only did he not transfer, he worked his ass off, battled, and won the job.

Kentucky40 and Early, good posts. Patrick's is a compelling story and if you haven't read the early spring ball stories from Kyle Tucker and Jen Smith, everyone should, they made you root for him. Now that he has earned the keys I hope he drives the offense to some big numbers. He's certainly capable. I really like all four guys and hope that they continue to compete because anything can happen.

Most knocked Reese's arm strength but when he got a chance today he threw a "long" TD to Baker per Jeff's tweet. Never take no for an answer, keep fighting.

Congrats to Patrick for most. Secondly, Reese Phillips is a baller. I truly believe he'll be the second string QB and Drew Barker be RS. Towles biggest issue at UK before this year was his own confidence. The kid never thought about transferring even though KSR ran with false rumors and such.

I will wait for the comparisons until after he starts winning some games.

Congrats to Pat for hanging in and working hard. He has my admiration and support but I'm going to withhold my confidence for a bit.

Re: Patrick Towles it is!

Anything that has been said here is true of any of the candidates. The old saying that if you have two QB's playing that means you don't have one puts doubt in everyone's mind. I honestly think they have 4 who they could win with but with Max that would be later. It's funny but opponent by opponent, gameplan by gameplan one or the other might be a better fit because of emphasis but if you have to go with one now, Patrick seems to be the best candidate.

I also feel the decision was fueled, by the perception at least, that UK has more deep threats than last year. I don't know Neal's vision of what the offense could be but I think you'll see a balanced attack and that not only includes run/pass balance but inside/off-tackle and pitch runs and short/intermediate/long pass balance.

Can't wait to see Yeast take the bubble screen to the house; Mickelson making the catch in the back of the endzone; White out of the backfield; Whalen unstoppable over the middle......uh, sorry... got caught dreaming again. I'm giddy just thinking about seeing a qb that can throw the ball and guys that can catch it playing in an offense that recognizes the only way we can win is to throw, throw, throw only to set up the occasional run.

Congrats to Patrick.  He's got the biggest arm on the roster among guys not named Drew, plus he's got a ton of intangibles.  He's exactly what Neal Brown needs to open this offense up.  It'll be fun to watch him grow into the job and watch the team grow with him.
