Whitfield twitter

Whitfield twitter

So, Towles went west and Whitfield tweets a bunch os superlative and ambiguous crap about QBs at his camp, but I see nothing about Patrick.

Not going to hyper analyze that, but as I look for morsels of football in the arid season, I would like George to toss me a bone.

Re: Whitfield twitter

Per Vaught's article, there were 4 other SEC QB's there and yeah, I  would have liked to have heard something. Towles tweeted that he had a great week with Whitfield, said he learned a lot.

Re: Whitfield twitter

Don't worry, Gabe of call in talk shows fame, said his SOURCES told him that Towles is a PROGRAM TURNER, ha. Hope that's true but Gabe has been wanting Towles to start since he came on campus as a frosh. Even though Pat himself said he wasn't ready. Gabe also couldn't wait till Brooks was out the door to have Joker as HC. I've seen and heard Gabe's judgements for years and don't think he's been right yet

Re: Whitfield twitter

Hopefully, Towles keeps working hard to get better. No QB "turns" a program sitting on the bench. Someone is going to turn this around. Confidence is good. But, ya gotta do it during a game on the field. Let's hope the quote is real and correct.

I feel more confident in Towles than any other QB we have had around the program in awhile. He made some very good throws in the spring game. He is working his butt off also. He will be fine.

^^ Agree.  I would love to see Barker redshirt.

Re: Whitfield twitter

Between Phillips and Towles, we have QBs who should be ready to do what Neal B wants to do. Barker should be able to RS.

Re: Whitfield twitter

Maybe, but remember in recent years we've needed 3-4 QBs during a season at times

Re: Whitfield twitter

If Maxwell Smith needs to play a half in order to preserve Barker's redshirt then so be it. However, Whitlow being a run first QB was bound to get banged up while Max Smith is injury prone. Knock on wood but with Neil Brown running a true air raid where the majority of the passes are short and quick I do not see our QB's getting as banged up as they have the past couple years.

Towles is also a big guy; 6'5 240. He will be able to take a hit or two.

Re: Whitfield twitter

I'm not sure if Max is injury "prone" or not, remember Towles has had a couple of injuries also in limited qb time. Most of us would be injury prone if 300+ lb guys wanted to take our heads off

Let's hope our protection continues to get better.

Re: Whitfield twitter

I read this on  KSR

“Patrick Towles showed a lot of tools and the commitment to refining them,” George Whitfield Jr. tweeted late last night.

Good to see he was tweeted out at Patrick. PT has a ton of potential and a very strong work ethic. Between our three QBs I am happy to know that talent or work ethic will not be an issue. Hopefully we can put it together on the field.

Patrick is putting in the work.  Great to see this.  He could be really good.  Big guy and a cannon for an arm judging from Neal's comments.

That does not seem synonymous with or as confident as "program turner."    Seems optimistically reserved like a coach.

Not quite the superlative he seemed to share about other QBs.

Ha, did anyone confirm that "program turner" comment. Don't tell me everyone is taking Gabe's comment to be a fact

Re: Whitfield twitter

Here is Whitfield's exact quote, "Kentucky QB Patrick Towles showed a lot of tools and the committment to refining them", Nice generic comment but nowhere near the program turner deal. Gabe either lies a lot or he has some of the worst sources in history

Re: Whitfield twitter

Yes, one and the same. He posted that on the rivals free board. He's been wrong on so many things over the years that it's comical and his judgement is lacking, to say the least. He never did want Brooks and couldn't wait till he was pushed out to get Joker in. His "sources" have guaranteed him certain coaching candidates would be named coaches in both bball and fball and they haven't been right yet

Re: Whitfield twitter

I remember thinking that Joker taking over was a good thing, especially since Brooks was involved with the decision. I would like that opinion back.

Most were for Joker's promotion but I sure wasn't hurrying up the Ole Man's departure.I always knew Joker was unproven at that level, and Stoops has not proved everything yet either. Proof will be on the field

Re: Whitfield twitter

I think Joker and his staff failed at assessing talent and recruiting. I think that staff could coach.

Re: Whitfield twitter

I don't know, I think his recruiting was better than his coaching. I hope he gets another chance at a HC job at sometime, but ole Joker may just be one of those that was over his head as a HC
