This weekends recruiting news

This weekends recruiting news

And it begins!

It's another one of those nights haha  # WeAreUK breaking news coming...

For those without twitter, Lance Reed is an individual who somehow had the role of showing the recruits last weekend a good time on campus. Apparently he landed the gig again this weekend! I know he was so close to the recruits and had so much information after last weekend that several premium sites were giving him free memberships. So i'd definitely consider this a reliable source at this point.

Nothing wrong with Badet at all, wish it was Timmons though. I hadn't realized how thin our WR corp was till I looked at it earlier today. All I can say is ouch. Think Samples, Timmons, would be competing with each other on who could verbal first. We only have 4 returning WR's that have playing time from last year! Besides that one JUCO WR we signed, I'm surprised we haven't went after at least one more.

I think that Timmons is strongly leaning UK, but seems to want to play out the signing day drama. I hope that he has communicated a soft verbal to Brown/Stoops and they know that he's solid, but won't interfere with his press conference, etc.

With only a about 6 rides left, would think if we get Badet, we would only take one more

Hearing Deangelo Yancey has picked up an offer from missouri and may look around. If so there would be room for timmons, samples/badet, and a big receiver like Cumberlander or Montgomery.

Yancy did pick up an offer from Mizzou, it's where Pat Washington went. But he has signaled that he is good to go with this staff.

Seen don't know if true, that Badet was telling UK students that he was going to commit to UK. he has always been a strong UK lean. Is friends with Woulard btw. Both went to same HS before Woulard transferred to a different school

badet and samples are very similar in size and playing styles. If we get badet id say samples is out.

Timmons may be the odd man out if Badet and Samples say yes.

I know Neal had mentioned that we needed some taller receivers, Bidet doesn't fit that bill

I am still confused about Timmons. Can waiting until signing day if he is a silent committment make anymore difference then if he committed this weekend? I would think committing now would be the better choice unless he has serious doubts about staying local.

As long as the staff knows he's coming, it wouldn't have to be made public, and he could have his signing day drams. Some think Hatcher has committed to UK staff but no public proclaimment

Hatcher,  I understand,  him being connected to USC and ul,  it makes sense to do it on signing day if it happens.  But with Timmons,  its not like we are battling it out with any certain top school, it just seems weird to me.  I guess I like the kid alot and would hate to lose him being a Kentucky kid.

The coaching staff wants Samples BAD. If Rashaad wants to be a Cat they will make it work regardless of who else is committed.

IMHO, Timmons is going to wait too long and miss his chance. I think the people who think he is a UK lean are wishful thinkers. He has been looking for a bigger pond for the past year and is not going to commit to UK until he is 100% sure that it will be his best option. I don't think he will make up his mind until NSD and I don't think there will be a spot for him by then unless we miss out on 2 out of Samples, Badet and Montgomery.

Also, there is an article up on Rivals saying Yancey is firm to UK.

OH ST is not offering Timmons, they are on scholarship restrictions and probably won't know themselves until NSD if they have a ride for him. Is he trying to hold out for an offer from FL by Joker? Last word they want him to visit but haven't offered yet. Be crazy a guy like Timmons be on the outside looking in on a lot of programs cause he literally wouldn't get off the pot and make a decision.

I share that fear with Timmons. I spoke to someone very close to him last week (before cxling the Ohio State visit) and the key factors were:

*going where he was wanted (check for UK, felt played by OSU)
*early playing time (check for UK)
*fit with the offense (noplace better than AirRaid for him)

They keep coming back to UK being the best situation, but that taste of the "bigger pond" has made him want to play the thing out. I hope he doesn't end up at F&^%#(* Illinois because he waits too long. I've enjoyed watching him in HS and certainly think that he can get all three things in Lexington.

Got back two hours ago from watching my grandson wrestle in a 16 school meet at Franklin County High. Word I heard from a couple of adults was Florida was making a big, big push but both thought Timmons was a UK lean.

The only thing about that is why does Joker think he is a great player now but didn't give him a sniff while he was at UK.  If I was Timmons that would bother me,  not make me want to play for him.

In Joker's defense on this one, he was on Ryan Timmons in 8th Grade, made him a priority over the past two years. Check out Vaught's Views for a very recent interview with FC Coach Tracy who comments that Ryan always liked Joker (and Chuck Smith) but had concerns about the direction of the program.

RE: This weekends recruiting news

Coach Brown did say that about getting bigger receivers but he also said he wanted more guys who could make you miss.  And so far in the recruiting visits, there's only been one receiver at 6-3, the rest shorter. Personally, I thought some guys were underutilized last year, Collins, good running ability and Legree for sure. The TE Anthony Kendrick being ineligible hurt as well and a smarter more efficient Max Smith too. So the offensive attack could have been better as the running game was pretty decent. Now with the change in scheme, everyone including the TE's will catch a lot of balls.

Timmons was/has been recruited all along but if I were a local recruit, I'd want to know who I would be playing for before committing. He has a lot of offers but I don't think any are better than being close enough to home and playing for Coach Brown. Florida's offense doesn't seem to be it for Ryan. We'll see.

Looking more and more like you could ask that same question about a lot of kids.

Interesting...Scout board does not show Badet with an offer yet, and it's updated enough to show Miles to Purdue, which just happened this morning.
