Re: Charlie Strong sued

Im sure cardinal fans have a reasonable explanation for the numerous articles that clearly outline the dirty recruiting tactics used by strong/hurtt and their good buddy nevin shapiro. Its obvious to anyone that has the ability to read other than lville fans.

Let me try for 233 and Gocs:

"This is just what one would expect from a bunch of biased UK fans who want nothing more than to disparage Strong's name. The linked article is possibly bogus. Grant is surely a UK fan who attended UL and worked his way close to Strong for the sole purpose of hurting Strong's reputation. UK fans don't live in Louisville and are not close to the program, so they do not know what they are talking about. UL fans know that when the real facts come to light, Strong will be declared a Saint by the church and will be given a medal by the President.

GOT CARDS, EAT SPAGHETTI!!"

Something like that.

Most people would not know this, but back when Cooper was the coach at UL, there was a similar locker room incident where a walk-on WR was hurt and taken to the hospital. It was never reported, to my knowledge.

TOS already has Card fan posters blaming the victim, hopefully we can get some of the Scout Card fans to get in here and engage in some of that sweet, sweet victim-blame as well.

Hmmmmmmm . . . well I'd say that we should all allow this to play out in the courts before we indict anyone in this case.  I believe that is the American way.  Other than that I don't have any furthern information on this situation, other than it was a very public situation when it happened.  Obviously, these are unfortunate situations and it shouldn't happen anywhere.

What they're doing to this kid is despicable.  No doubt the only reason they told him he would keep his scholarship to begin with was to avert a lawsuit.  Now they'll probably attempt to claim that he left the team voluntarily.

And GC, as I'm sure you're well aware, this was NOT a "very public" situation when it happened.  UL tried very hard to keep it hush-hush but was just not very successful.  Do you remember ever seeing it reported on tv or in the C-J until months after it happened?

Oh, now, Catfan, let's not bring facts into this. We should just wait and see what happens. Shhhhhhh ....

Well I sure knew about it.  I'm not sure why you guys didn't know about it also, but maybe it wasn't publicized in the Lexington media.  Yes, I agree this kid is being unfairly criticized on some of our boards and that isn't fair.  The "story" only gave one side of the case which is standard for cases of this nature.  As to the potential "settlement" of the case no one knows at this juncture, but many times these things are settled and the public isn't involved.  That may or may not be the case here.

Did I say we didn't know about it?

I think Jurich & Co. settle this one pretty quickly before the trainer gets subpoenaed.  I just hope the athletic department has to bear the brunt of the lawsuit and not the university.  As a state entity, they may have immunity.

It happened in October and the earliest I have seen anyone post a link to a story is January. While you may have known about it, obviously you're much better connected to all things football related. The rest of the world found out a couple months after the incident.

Interesting that this came out at the beginning of the home stretch of recruiting season.

Also interesting that the Grand Jury did not issue an indictment in the case.

Most state court criminal prosecutions do not nvolve a grand jury indictment. I thought both brothers entered a plea.

Derwin Webb, ex-UL basketball player represented at least one of the twins. Grant had a good attorney, then. Not sure who is currently representing him.

ESPN and AP now have the story. Greg Hovious is a good attorney. I suspect this has some teeth.

So,  as an insensitive ul fan,  you think it was ok for two ul players to try and kill another ul player in the locker room.  Wow, gocds,  you used to say you had class,  I doubt that now.

No it wasn't very public when it happened. I for one had never heard of it. But, if it gets in court it will become very public indeed.

It's kind of strange how they kept the guy with 3 DUI's on scholarship but take away this guy's.  It's almost as if Jurich is playing the media. . . . rolleyes

UKLaw please tell me where I said or thought "it was ok or two UL players to try and kill another UL player in the locker room" or else for that matter.  You are ridiculous with your comments.   In fact, you are worse than the spin doctors on the cable TV networks.  In fact, all I said was to let this thing play itself out in the courts, nothing less or more was urged by me.   Unless you think the two perps should be shot at dawn.  I do not know, and neither does anyone on this board why the young man's scholly came to an end.  I'm quite sure that we'll all be finding out in due time.

Yesterday three of the top threads were all about UL.  This one, the one about Strong pulling offers and the one about the Florida transfer.

Someone needs to tell Badinage that this is a UK board, not a UL board.

Do ESPN, CNN, or any of the other related media outlets "envy" UL football?  This is a message board, generally a repository of opinions, rumors, news, and current events.

Or is this one of those posts where you try to pretend that posting about a current news item, expressing an opinion, or commenting on a subject on a message board dedicated to a similar subject means there is an "obsession?"

Don't you find it the least bit dissonant that you would log in and post on a rivals' message board 232 times, only to call a fan of the team represented on the message board "obsessed?"

Of course. That must be it. And, yet again, you post on a UK board.
