Smith, Whitlow, or Towles?
With Brown locked up, now everyone must be wondering about which QB will fit best in his system and which QB everyone wants to see next season. So what do you guys think?

Re: Smith, Whitlow, or Towles?
I'm curious to see who it's gonna be. Smith and Towles are pocket passers but towels has the stronger arm. Whitlow is very mobile and has arm strength but needs work. I wanna see where Brown wants to go with the offenses. I would love to see a dual threat QB. We would be even more dangerous.

Re: Smith, Whitlow, or Towles?
He'll figure out the qb thing. I'm concerned about having enough guys that can catch the ball. I don't pretend to know much re: Brown's offense but if it is like Mumme's he'll need to get out and recruit some fast guys with hands. Though we have a few, we certainly could use more.
Some may disagree, but I don't see anyone close to being a Keenan Burton, J. Tamme, etc...type receiver. If we do have one or two, we need more.

Re: Smith, Whitlow, or Towles?
legree, Sweat and Collins all have loads of talent.
We do have a problem with depth. You need 7 or 8 guys who can play because of the pace the offense goes at. We only have something like 6 receivers on scholarship right now with the 4 who graduated.
i suspect we'll start hearing some juco names pop up along with another 2 freshmen guys.
In terms of qb, I see Smith taking the reins for the next two years and Towles redshirting this year. I suspect we'll try and sign somebody late in the process and tell pat that he's redshirting no matter what and tell whitlow that he'll be backup this year and be moved next year. ram1958 wrote: He'll figure out the qb thing. Sure would be nice to find the next Stevie Johnson or Aaron Boone from the JC ranks.
Transitive logic with sports does not work. Quit trying!

Uk has offered Texas Tech commit QB Brian Webb from Keller, TX. https://twitter.com/DamonSayle...160324081885185

Re: Smith, Whitlow, or Towles?
Robinson is gong to love this. Remember Yeast and Kio Sanford? He will get those little screens just beyond the line and will be able to then work in the open field. We need a couple more receivers, but the corps has good potential. --------------------------------------------- --- Hoptownukfan wrote: legree, Sweat and Collins all have loads of talent. RE: Smith, Whitlow, or Towles?
By the way, Legree reminds me a bit of Burton. Not as lanky, but I think he is going to turnout to be the type of guy that can agressively go and get those third and eight balls.

RE: Smith, Whitlow, or Towles?
I think we've got a couple of guys that will fit well in Brown's system; possibly all three. He basically runs the air raid out of the pistol. Towles won 3 straight state titles as the starter at Highlands (2 in 5A, one in 4A), running a spread attack. I expect him to challenge Smith right away.
Don't panic

RE: Smith, Whitlow, or Towles?
In 2007, I'm hesitant to say this, but I will: He's got as much arm talent as anybody I've ever coached as far as throwing the football," said Sanders, who coached Manning at Tennessee. Read more here: http://www.kentucky.com/2011/1...l#storylink=cpy
I don't think Max's arm strength has ever been a question. Also, he is accurate with a quick release.

IMO, All 3 can work out of Brown's modified Air-Raid... Whitlow really fits the Pistol OFF as the Dual-Threat QB...But prototypical PP QB's can put up some serious #'s & be very successful, as well! So, My ONLY hope is he gets the BEST ONE the field. The one that puts the ball in the end-zone & gives UK the best chance at winning! That's it! Regardless of who it is! WTS, Only Whitlow has the athletic ability to shift to a WR position & be useful...And I would expect to see that happen, in the event he doesn't win the #1 QB job. The WR corp is skilled, but lacks the depth needed to run the system...... Robinson, Legree, Collins, Sweat are all known commodities. Cunningham, Yancey, Smith, Cobbins (+ whoever else is recruited in)...Those guys have serious questions. And w/ Whitlow showing he's capable of being an explosive SEC play-maker w/ the ball in his hands...He needs to be on the field, in some fashion...WR makes the most sense, if not as QB.

Re: Smith, Whitlow, or Towles?
I can see Whitlow being moved to slot receiver and used in the Wildcat similar to how Cobb was used. Quarterback then comes down to Smith and Towles to battle it out for starter and you sign another quarterback coming to come in for future. I think Smith #1 and Towles #2 just because you don't lose your starting position because of injury. Smith has proven he can run the offens and read the defenses. Towles struggled last year with both and hope he will be on campus all summer practicing should see much improvement for next year. I agree we need to increase depth for receivers however you have to build your line too so you can have time to go deep when you want. Defense wins championships. If defense can create short field situations offense will be successful.

Re: Smith, Whitlow, or Towles?
Not losing your job because of injury is bs. Besides max will have lost his job because of a head coaching change and a kid just has a better future than smith does

No way, barring injury, that Towles redshirts. Reese Phillips will.

Reese Phillips talked to new Kentucky coach Mark Stoops for first time today. Stoops said he'll be evaluated when OC spot is finalized. Tough spot for Phillips, who is graduating early and planned to enroll at UK in January.

Looks to me like hes coming to UK. Reese seems to be well respected as a QB in the area that he is from. Do we take one more before we are done with recruiting?

RE: Smith, Whitlow, or Towles?
I assume he is still coming for the spring? With three returning soph QBs, I think one in this class is good, unless some real stud fall into our laps.
