An SEC school assisted UofL's move to . . . .

An SEC school assisted UofL's move to . . . .

the ACC.  In a twist of fate, Georgia's cancellation of a home and home football game contract enabled UofL to schedule UNC.  On that trip many UNC fans discovered that our facilities were superb and that our city is a great place to visit.  So, that being said, thanks to one of your SEC brethern for the assist.  We are looking forward to a better football schedule and, of course, the best basketball in the land.

Come back in 2 years and tell us where you are. Maybe sooner. I doubt you'll be so happy then.

Right now there are three major conferences and it is certainly in the realm of possibility that there will be four 16-team superconferences in the future with either the ACC or the Big12 getting pulled apart.

But right now we really don't care.  If you look at where we were a week ago and where we are right now the difference is night and day.

You guys are too.  Great hire.

It is really all up to the courts to decide the Maryland $50 million situation.

I just got a laugh too. Its just like little brother to tap big brother on the shoulder and say " look at me, look at me".
Maybe it will work out but I'm afraid lville left a dead conference for a dying one just as they said on PTI.

Go,
Not sure what the reasons were but it is clear to me that UL was
a much better pick than the other options.
I wonder if our good Senator got involved some way.

Actually Bad our most staunch allies were FSU and Clemson.  Fortunately, it was a 11-0 vote in our favor.

The rumors now are that UNC and Duke are in talks with the Big 10.  Why would UNC want to help UL get into the Big East?  Sabotage?

If you look at some of the ACC fan boards (including FSU and Clemson), some of them are very upset with the direction the league is taking.
Don't panic

"Why would UNC want to help UL get into the Big East?"

Because we are a stud program.   wink

Badinage, the chin took some shots tonight but it is still there.  Barely.  Actually, I was surprised you guys were not interested in Shawn Watson, our OC.  But you got a good coach for sure.

CF73 fortunately for UofL internet board posters aren't the ones that will make ANY decisions about where their school goes or stays.  Again, the presidents of the ACC schools voted 11-0 for UofL and that's all that needs to be said.  The reports all indicated that FSU and Clemson gave assurances that they would be committed to the ACC so long as the pick was a school (UofL) that actually cared about football.  Our basketball program was simply a bonus along with the rest of our athletic department.  In reality, most sources feel that the addition of Louisville stabalizes the ACC whereas the defection of Maryland (financially bankrupt athletic department) was going to be a problem for the ACC down the road.  Now that problem belongs to the Big 10-11-12-13-14.  Any negative comments to the contrary are simply those wanting UofL to fail and it appears that ain't happenin' as we are alive and well.  We are simply playing with the cards that we've been dealt.

No doubt Gocs. Everyone knows that. And, THAT ACTUALLY makes sense, because the decision was about football and keeping FSU and Clemson happy. NOT about UNC fans coming to Louisville.

Watson is inconsistent. UL has barely beaten some bad teams, often playing to the level of their competition. I do not hear Watson mentioned with any job but UL. And, I wonder how happy UL fans would be if Steong left and Jurich hired Watson. I do not think their would be unanimity.

Bad you are correct . . . . "Watson is inconsistent . . . . etc. . . .".  I wouldn't be surprised to see him "moved" to another spot on the staff or for him to "move on".  Personally I like the guy, but I sure as hell don't like the inconsistency of our offense.  I will say that we have been missing our "big back" all season and he may have made a difference in our running game, but of course we'll never know that one way or the other.  I would be very surprised if Watson ever became the head coach at UofL.  He was not successful at his only HCing gig and that was at his alma mater, Southern Illinois.

I would not do away with the guy, especially if he has a good rapport with Teddy.  Last thing you want is to disrupt Teddy for his junior, and possibly last year.  I just do not think he has demonstrated he deserves an HC job or to be considered one of the best in the business.  But, coaches, like players, mature and grow in their experience. He could be that some day.

Yep. So stable that it took less than a week for rumors to surface that the B1G has voted to add Georgia Tech. Maryland opened the flood gates.  The ACC will eventually be the old Big East, the one that was pretty decent and not a complete laughing stock.

Our best running back was injured before the season started and was redshirted.  Our second best running back was lost a couple of games ago.  Like I said earlier, we are running out of players.

I have a serious question for Card fans. How do you feel about the ACC being a dry conference like the SEC?

Doh!

Maybe all those people that supposedly stand on the party deck instead of sitting in their seats will actually learn how to watch a game and start to understand football.

Nice try, guys.  Drink this:

"Before it was even official that Louisville would join the ACC, one of the more popular questions from  Cardinal fans was if the university would still be allowed to sell alcohol at athletic events. The answer to that  question is yes.

There are a few current ACC members that do not sell alcohol at football or basketball games, but that isn’t because of ACC rules. For example, Florida State plays basketball in an off-campus arena owned by the city and therefore are not within the alcohol guidelines.

Maryland who is leaving the ACC has been selling alcohol at football games for the past couple of years. Pittsburgh is currently in the Big East and sells alcohol at both their football and basketball games. Pitt will head to the ACC next season and have reportedly been told they can continue to sell alcohol once they join the league..."
