How many college credits did you get today?
I watched 3 movies, drove to the bank and filled out a deposit slip, I read the instructions on a box of velveeta skillet meal, I typed out a few posts on some message boards.
How many college credits does this get me at UNC for the day?

Re: How many college credits did you get today?
I didn't bother to get out of bed until 2:00 - that'd be p.m. Took a 3-hr. stroll window shopping. Read several road signs and followed their directions. I seem to remember that I wondered when I should do my laundry. When I checked my transcript, I had earned 45 semester hours by doing all of that. That means I can graduate, today, with a 4.0 gpa. Woohoo... You should check your transcript - I'm guessing that we'll graduate together...assuming that you in fact did all that you've said you did!

"So say the people that probably couldn't even get into UNC in the first place..."
Didn't have enough pre-AFAM classes in our high schools to qualify. Butt hurt much?

Didn't have enough pre-AFAM classes in our high schools to qualify. Butt hurt much? Butt hurt about having attended a top 5 public university? Nope. Maybe if you had done better in your "pre-AFAM" classes you could have gotten in.

Reasoning wrote: So say the people that probably couldn't even get into UNC in the first place... Say what? Get into UNC???? Oh no, I do not actually want to attend UNC...I want to sit at home and watch football, read a couple of books, a few magazines, play PS3...and I want to be given credit for that, maybe a few unauthorized grade changes, and then I want my diploma mailed to me. Or is that just for athletes?

Hey, we play college sports just like everyone else. You know what you get with a roster full of people who are almost qualified enough to get into your school normally? Take a look at Dook football.

I could have gotten in without issue, but UNC would have been a terrible place for me to go to college.

I could have gotten in without issue, but UNC would have been a terrible place for me to go to college. All the academic scandals? You mean all one of them? Were you planning on majoring in African-American studies? Can't fault you for your college choice, wherever you did choose to go (UK, I presume?). Everyone has different things that they are looking for, different preferences, different places where they feel comfortable, etc.

^I did not attend UK. UK would have been a better choice for me than UNC however.
Reasoning, you're ignoring some of the non-athletic related academic scandals to go on in the last several years at UNC.

Reasoning, you're ignoring some of the non-athletic related academic scandals to go on in the last several years at UNC. Care to name a few? UNC has consistently been ranked as a top-5 public university, and that shows little signs of changing. Not to mention, the university just enrolled its most qualified freshman class in history. Minor scandals happen at every school, and have almost no bearing on the overall quality of education at a given institution. Heck, Duke's lacrosse scandal was one of the biggest academic scandals in recent history (88 professors publicly condemning a group of students who did nothing wrong...really?), yet Duke as a whole remains as prestigious as ever. These things happen in the world we live in. Looking at your posting history, it appears as if you are a State fan. That pretty much explains your attitude towards UNC.

blogs.newsobserver.com/campusn...unc-chapel-hillI'm completely capable of typing unbiased things. Believe it or not, but NC State affiliation has nothing to do with UNC being overrated and anything but a "public ivy"

I'm completely capable of typing unbiased things. Believe it or not, but NC State affiliation has nothing to do with UNC being overrated and anything but a "public ivy" Grade inflation is a major problem at a lot of universities, including Harvard: http://www.usatoday.com/news/c.../08/edtwof2.htmColumbia: http://www.columbiaspectator.c...grade-inflationCornell: http://www.outsidethebeltway.c...ion_at_cornell/Georgetown: http://www.thehoya.com/opinion...17#.UEvxUVFNocsAnd...well, you get the picture. UNC, like most other elite universities, is no stranger to grade inflation. It happens. Speaking of grade inflation, the maximum grade allowed at UNC is an A, which is a 4.0. NC State gives out A+'s, which come in at 4.3s. Just another way to boost your student's GPAs.

RE: How many college credits did you get today?
Based on experiences by myself and friends at both universities, it is much easier to graduate from UNC than NC State, and much easier to make good grades.
At UNC if you can get in you will most likely graduate with some kind of degree in 4-5 years, athlete or not. It's easy for everyone.

Obviously, that is highly subjective and depends on what you major in. I'm sure it is much harder to come out of NC State with an engineering degree than it is to come out of UNC with a history degree. Just like it is much harder to come out of UNC with a bio degree than it is to come of of NC State with a degree in agriculture. That also likely has something to do with the student body makeup of both universities. UNC's students, on average, do better in high school and on their SATs and ACTs than NC State's students, so it isn't really surprising that they achieve in college just like they achieved in high school.

The people I've talked to at UNC did no better in high school than the ones that went to NC State as far as these discussions are concerned (I've met plenty of people at State that probably shouldn't have gotten into either school, and I'm not including them in this assessment). People of about the same intelligence, and about the same high school success. All of them took at least 8 AP classes in high school.

All of them took at least 8 AP classes in high school. I'm not talking about the people you've talked to. I'm talking about the profiles of the universities as a whole. UNC's students on average have higher GPAs, higher SAT scores, higher ACT scores, etc. than NC State's students. 25-75% SAT range for UNC most recently was 1200-1410, compared to 1140-1290 for NC State. 90% of UNC's students were in the top 10% of their high school class, compared to 50% for NC State. It isn't as secret that UNC's students on average did better in high school than NC State's...that is why it is harder to get into UNC than it is to get into NC State. Anyone from this state knows that. Sources: http://www.admissions.ncsu.edu...e/pdf/facts.pdf http://admissions.unc.edu/Acad...gs/default.htmlAdmit better students and you get better results. Pretty simple.

You and Ego have been arguing for a month now, and you don't know he is a North Carolina State grad? Please if you are going to take up this much space on this site, PLEASE leave UK out of it or disappear all together
