***** UK-Samford Game Thread *****
We're about 15 minutes from tipoff at Rupp. Should be interesting to see if the Cats can get back on the winning track with a decisive win tonight.
As usual, share your observations with us here in this thread.

Lineup: Goodwin, Mays, Wiltjer, Poythress, Noel.
Kinda surprised no changes.

RE: ***** UK-Samford Game Thread *****
Cal is going to go with the group that he expects to be best in March, not the group that is best in November/December. Remember, early last year we were a better team with Lamb at the point than Teague. Harrow may be a better point guard because that is what his training is, but Cal must believe Archie is the guy for March.

Imo harrow must play well at point for us to make a run. Archie will be better playing the 2 for the most part. He was forced to put archie at point more than he wanted to.

Some stats from tonight:
UK shot 55.7% and had 23 assists on 34 FGs. Mays 5, Wiltjer, 4, Goodwin 4, Polson 4, Harrow 4 all had nice assist totals.
Willie Cauley-Stein had UK's first double-double of the season: 12 points, 12 rebounds (also 4 blocks and 3 steals).
UK placed 6 in double-figure scoring for first time since NCAA regional semifinal game vs. Indiana: Goodwin 18, Poythress 16, Noel 13, Cauley-Stein 12, Mays 10, Wiltjer 10.
Noel had a good all-around game like Cauley-Stein with 6 rebounds, 5 blocks, 2 steals.
Jon Hood buried a couple of late 3s, scored 6.

Re: ***** UK-Samford Game Thread *****
I know leadership is important but with freshmen, sometimes its hard to get one to rise above everyone else. I still feel that this group lacks basketball sense sometimes. 1). Patience: having the ball stolen or bad pass made after the rebound has been gotten, the bigs need to understand there is no reason to push the ball if a defensive presence is around. 2) Court awareness: standing on the inbounds line when you're going up strong are things that can be corrected. 3). Ball Movement: when we do this well, the team looks good, when we don't we look like freshmen. With the 20 hour rule over with holidays, Cal will get this corrected also.
