My first official Harbor Yards Arena gripe of 2009

Okay, who else was shocked to see AHY collecting parking money after the game instead of beforehand?  I was so annoyed just sitting there in the parking lot while the attendants stopped every car on the way out for money.  Don't they realize we just want to go home and get our kids to bed??

And parking now is $6, what's with that?  Plus they charged everyone $12 for tickets, there were no $9 tickets available.  $12 for an exhibition game with a D2 team???  I can buy a ticket for all 3 games of the CT Classic for $12!  What a ripoff.

There's my vent for the night, forgive me I'm still ticked off at the traffic jam on I95 on the way home flushed

I parked in the outside lot and was not charged on my way out, but would have been furious if I had been.

This is probably a Harbor Yard thing and not a Fairfield thing, but we should complain to Pat Murphy and/or Helen Smaldone.

I do not think they charged for parking at last year's exhibition.

$6 is outrageous, especially in these economic times.

had to apply for a mortgage to get oiut of the garage.

got a great rate, it was only 100% more than last year.

the attendant and i got to know each other quite well on the way out.

he said  " lucky you are leaving now, the rates could go up by the next game "

That's so freakin bizarre... Anywho, after a few really bad experiences getting into and out of that lot, I have found a few alternatives that are less stressful and less expensive. Park on the Street near I-95 or in the Firestone and/or Bob's Lot. Yes, it's a ONE BLOCK walk but you avoid all the hassle of the lot and/or that garage.

Oh, so there you have it, my secret's out... oh, and I'm Batman...

not to worry

you can obtain a season pass for the garage for $750

if you park on the roof you can exit off  the side of the garage, no lines.

Let me echo the complaint. Six dollars for parking and getting stuck in the backup to get out of the garage was abysmal. It took me at least a half an hour to get out of the garage. One parking attendant who was a bit surly made it even worse.

And note that the elevators were out of order. My gait is poor and it was an extra effort.

Not a good start to the basketball season. And we lost the game also.

I just received an email from Helen Smaldone a copy of which is essentially a free parking coupon for Monday night's game.  The City of Bridgeport admitted to its mistake by not offering event parking yesterday and is accomodating season ticket holders accordingly by granting free parking with a copy of the email for the next exhibition game.

Nice follow up by the school and AHY.

Thanks!  Yes, good job by the school to quickly address this.
