Because hanging around a gay guy will make you gay? I don't have a problem with it but suspect if someone does they will send their kid to a different scout troop.

I believe the Boy Scouts should be free to make any decision they want to make in this matter. I also think they will be relegated to obscurity if they continue their nonsense, and they would totally deserve it. So, hopefully they do the right thing, it'd be a shame for them to disappear.

But I am careful of who my boys hang around as children- and that includes a lot of straight men.

But personally- I don't want my boys hanging around a man that desires to insert his penis into another man's anus for pleasure.

Of course my kids aren't in Boy Scouts- but if they were- I'd choose a group that at least tries to be careful who they hire in that regard- along with other issues concerns as well.

I generally like hanging around people that are similiar to myself - at least in some basic ways.


That's not to say I don't show and offer respect to other people- even those that aren't like me at all.

But when it comes to my children, I generally choose people and groups that support the beliefs they are taught at home and I don't need the extra worry of some diehard wanting to impart a few of his 'words of wisdom" to them on that issue. That goes for anyone else too.

I have had a few good friends who were gay-- and were not pedophiles.
I just can't imagine my son going on a camping trip to graveyard fields for a three day overnight with a flaming troop master. Call me crazy.

this eagle scout has written several angry letters to bsa opposing the ban on gays..gays are no more likely to be pedophiles than heteros, yet we've never tried to ban heteros from leading opposite-sex youth groups or teams..scouts have serious protocols in place to prevent freaks from becoming leaders, as well as actively encouraging kids to tell when approached by pedophiles..but the fact of the matter is that we must always be vigilant for pedophiles - gay or straight - for all adults overseeing youths..pedophiles naturally gravitate to youth leadership roles because that's where the kids are.

When you think about it, all Boy Scouts prefer boys over girls, until they are old enough to realize they like girls, which is when they usually drop out of Boy Scouts, unless you're jackorange.
