Our WR class is falling apart

Ryan Jenkins to Tennessee now! What is going on? We never have players de-commit like this.

Yeah, I guess some guys are afraid of competition. I dunno. Thankfully we're not really hurting at that position. The only receiver we lose to graduation this year is Brown. We've got Hopper redshirting and Brooks could split out wide if needed. Mike Williams is still committed. All of these guys can be impact players so while it sucks to lose commits, it's not like we won't be ok without them.

There's a month to go...and frankly, from the film I saw, I really like Clark. Kid runs with a full stride and chews up ground.

Re: Our WR class is falling apart

I completely disagree with you. I think Williams and Hopper can be studs, but the depth is not there. We will be fine in 2013 and 2014, but after 2014, we lose Bryant, Peake, and Humphries. We most likely lose Sammy after 2013 and good chance we lose Nuke now. That leaves us with Williams and Hopper in 2015. I understand that we will sign more in 2014 and 2015, but you want to have veterans playing. Very rarely do you have a Sammy Watkins as a freshman. We only signed Hopper last year and need to sign atleast one more this year alongside Williams. I'm not opposed to moving Brooks or Gallman to WR.

All the talk of Morris leaving at the end of last season and this season is taking it's toll on this class. Why would a WR want to come play 1 season in Morris' system, but have no guarantee that he will be back for the next 2-3 years?

DS is a spread guy.  It's not Clemson is going to the triple option when Morris leaves.

Somebody better get on the phone with North. Now. You tell him he is their number one guy. He is better IMO then anyone we are or have had committed in this recruiting cycle.

My hope is that when Chad does leave that we go with Brandon Streeter, which I've lobbied for on this site many times. He is the next great OC in my belief. I would also like to see Coach Scott promoted and given the title of CO-OC, but have Streeter call the plays.

Re: Our WR class is falling apart

I think most know that Morris is gone after another year. Morris is THE reason our offense is what it is. When he's gone, we could very well turn into a smashmouth type team. Can't say I blame these kids. Just too much "unknown" to gamble on here until we see what happens.

Yeah- the ton of talent he has had to work with isn't a factor.
Dwayne Allen
Nuk
Watkins
Ellington
Boyd
Ford

Like I said- DS is a spread guy and brought in Morris for that reason.  That's the type of offense we will run as long as DS is the headcoach.

OK. Then why can't we land any good WR's?

Jenkins didn't want to redshirt or sit on the bench?  Grew up a TN fan b/c that's where his dad played.  Got an offer late.

Robinson's mom wanted FL and obviously he likes UF.

Still in it with North and now with Clark.  It's not like we were going to take 6 WRs this year.  We have Mike Williams committed.

Are you serious? Look at our WR depth chart and ask that again. Sometimes, too much depth can work against you.

Nuk is gone. Peake is a bust. One more year and Watkins is gone. Don't really see a "deep" depth chart.

Re: Our WR class is falling apart

Bryant will be a stud.  Peake we shall see.  I feel great about of them.  After that we go Humphries for another year.  Hopper has 4.  Williams will have 4.  In theory we have Watkins for 2 more years too, so depth chart looks more solid than it is.  It's a little sketchy if a few things change.  We definitely could use a couple more quality guys.
