On to VT

On to VT

I hear Book's got the flu.

VT under former Brownell assistant, Johnson, likes to go a little more up-tempo than Greenberg did. It might be b/c their defense is crap, but nevertheless, they are what they are.

In many ways, this team reminds me of the Walt Williams (high socks) Maryland days. Would be cool if someone could post a pic. Walt led the ACC in scoring, but he also led them in shots. And I mean a lot of shots. I mention this b/c I now give you Erick Green. A lot of VT's offense comes out of Erick Green creating shots. What I like about Green is he doesn't settle for the outside shot. He makes his living driving to the basket. I also like his ability to jump at angles and not straight at the basket. Which allows him to draw fouls and not charges. The problem is the other VT players look like their not expecting the ball and there is a tendency for the rest of them to not be in the game.

Back to the first sentence. This is a terrible game for Book to be sick. VT has terrible interior defense. So we really need Milt to step up. Milt struggles heavily against athletic big men. Luckily, VT doesn't have those. What VT does have is a more consistent version of Milt in Jarell Eddie. Like Milt, not very athletic and prefers to stay outside. Unlike Milt, he's more consistent from outside. That being the case. It is a match-up Jennings prefers.

KJ is going to have to be big on the defensive end. And I think he can be.

Clemson wins 69 - 60.

UGGGGGG, if this is true, somebody just shoot me. Brad Brownell must have done something wrong in a previous life b/c his luck just flat out sucks. I'd 50X rather Booker have been sick at Duke or NC State than today. We can't afford to lose at home to the worst team in the ACC or we can go ahead and stick a fork in the season.

Maybe Booker can still go and give us something positive.

Jeez, what a lousy way to start a day.

Wasn't Booker ill during the FSU game?

Re: On to VT

What they said was that Booker had a fever the day of the FSU game. Maybe it was the precursor of the flu coming on. Also possible that the flu really set in on Friday and Saturday and he may be somewhat better today.

Either way, we flat out can't lose this game and hope to have a decent season. We lose today and I'm going to have to take a two-week hiatus from the board just so I don't have to listen to some of the comments that will be forthcoming.

"Milt struggles against men."

Fixed that for you haha. But seriously, if Book can't go and we're left counting on him to win this game for us...I've got a bad feeling about this one. The thing I'm most concerned about is which one of our guards is going to step up and hassle Erick Green? Ordinarily, with players like him, I would say let him get his, just make sure no one else gets over 10. With the way we can struggle to score at times though, him getting 30 and everyone else getting 5 might be enough. So we need to make life miserable for him. Stop him and we're golden.

Erick Green scores 25 points per game and shoots 50% from the field. That's just ridiculous. Hall's going to need to be on his A-game defensively for us to win this one.

Booker's starting.

Looks like a nice turnout today.

Jennings was looking for his shot there. Bodes well for us.

Great block from Milt.

Too bad his shot has been off so far.

Right, there wasn't even the slightest bit of a foul there, but whatever.

Don't know why Hall is sitting out all this time.

Hall hit a 3 with time on the shot clock. That must be a first.

Yea, I feel like the only reason I wasn't absolutely disgusted with that shot selection was because he made it.

Harrison got bailed out with a foul there call there.

Just his 12th and 13th free throws of the year.

Jennings with 2 straight turnovers.

Eh, that second one might have been tipped.

Booker misses two front ends of 1-and-1 chances.
