Once again, the SEC gets TA&Med

Once again, the SEC gets TA&Med

So here we go again.  Texas A&M, chock full of Texas high school football players, monkey stomps the vaunted SEC.  It is hilarious to me how some (not all) Aggies are almost being apologetic for this among old-school SEC company.  As if they don't want to offend the hand that feeds.

Well forget it.  Texas A&M is going to be much loathed in the SEC in the near future.  The school that toppled over the SEC.  The school that kicked the wheels out from under the hype and glory.  The school that crushed the facade.

The SEC is gonna rue the day it invited Texas A&M.  In fact, the old-school SEC better become the Big 12's biggest fans.  Texas, Baylor, OU, anybody.... whatever it takes to keep Texas A&M from recruiting the top shelf from the State of Texas, because as long as A&M does, old-school SEC can just bend over.

There's a new sheriff in town.  Chants of SEC, SEC, SEC will be reduced to A and M, A and M, A and M, because that's who'll be carrying this thing in 5 years.  For whatever reason, a school that could never quite find its way in the Big 12 has found its ticket in the SEC.  And with the recruiting grounds of Texas at its disposal, this is going to get ugly.

As a Longhorn, I have found an angle from which to enjoy this.  Did I expect it?  No.  But after you think about it, it's really all making sense.  And it ain't going away folks.  Texas A&M will slap a cowboy hat and spurs on the SEC logo.  Bama and Auburn will be quibbling with each other for state supremacy, and no one will care.  There's a reason Friday Night Lights was filmed in Texas.  Texas A&M is going to school the southeast.

You wanted the State of Texas?  You got it.  This is going to be good.

It's just the season opener.  And our defense is still suspect... especially with the loss of Hilliard.

Tap the brakes.

Never thought I'd see the day that a Texas fan would be all over A&M's jock. Did you wear kneepads while posting that one?

My oh my how the mighty have fallen. Pretty sad when you think about it.

You do know florida and georgia (georida?) produce way more players than texas in way less square mileage, right?

See that's what I mean.  Aggies timidly not wanting to wake the SEC giant.  I understand you guys want to preserve the allusion, before the climactic ambush.

When we play 'em, we'll take care of it.  For now, they're your problem, but from my state.

That's what I say.  Except the "mighty" haven't fallen yet.  Just South Carolina, the projected conference champ.  The rest will fall in due time.

I thought that was the first game of the season but you make it sound like it's the sec championship game. I agree that A&M has a bright future but the are in a real football conference now. They are no longer in the big12 .

It isn't your state.

It's Texas A&M's state.  Or haven't you heard?

The SEC effect.  So powerful even A&M can overcome being in Texas...

Right.  And you have about a dozen vaunted SEC teams all competing for those Florida and Georgia players.  Meanwhile, Texas A&M is cherry-picking the State of Texas, because Texas kids want to stay home.  There's a pride thing going on here that the little small states east of us don't get.  Florida kids don't all want to play for Florida or FSU.  No state pride or identity down there.

This is why when Texas, OU, and A&M were all three battling for Texas recruits, it kept us all in check nationally.  But if you just take one Texas school, give them the SEC "bling bling", and they get their pick of the Texas litter, this is game over.

The SEC.  A way for a Texas school to suddenly compete.

Having a decent coach hasn't exactly hurt us either.... But we'll just ignore that little tidbit.

I'm not ignoring it.  I'll eat my crow on that too.  And likely I owe you a beer.

I would buy you a whole damn case if I could.  I'm not too good to be wrong.

Oh really?  Your hypothesis that the best recruits in Texas want to stay home is bogus.  Over half of the 2015 Oklahoma Football Commitment List is made up of kids from Texas, which are high quality players.  And that is just one university outside of Texas.  All that SEC bling bling didn't faze them too much when Bob Stoops knocked on their doors.

Just when ya think Longhorns couldn't be worse... The above attitude is why Texas is where they are today.

Real quick question...Isn't UTexas in Texas?  Aren't they chock full of those top-shelf recruits as well then?  So why the suckage?

When A&M had Johnny Football i said we wouldn't know about Sumlin until Manzile left.  Now they have Hill, I guess we have to wait a couple more years before we know.  pirate

We'll see how that 2015 list shakes out.  Roughly half switch to A&M I'll wager.  If A&M wants them.
