Crazy that Cal and Arizona lost by the same score margin...South Florida did have Cal beat by a lot though and had a 30+ lead in the game at one point. Cal was no match for South Florida today.

I'm shocked Arizona lost as a #1 seed in the NIT on their home court. Shock city.
Seeding in NIT signifies almost nothing. Two of the keys seniors, Kyle Fogg and Brandon Lavender, did darn near nothing. On a positive note the Arizona crowd was very into the game.

Yes, thank goodness Colorado won for the Pac-12, but they almost gave the game away.

Pac-12 is now 1-1 i the NCAA tournament. Do you think Colorado can get by Baylor in the next round?

FINAL: Colorado 63, Baylor 80

Good season for the Buffs.

Looking to 2012-13, I expect the Pac-12 to be much stronger, all games will be on TV, strong 2012 recruits coming to various programs, some top 25 teams, more RPI wins over top 25-50, etc.. I will be shocked if don't have more than 3+ teams qualify for the 2013 NCAA tournament. Our conference has to step it on a national level. We gotta get that respect back. The MWC and WCC better not pass us up. LOL.

Thoughts?

RE: 2011-12 Pac-12 Basketball

It seems like the Pac-12 can say "We're the best teams not good enough to play in the NCAA tournament." I'm not exactly sure what good that's worth, but if most of our teams can say they'll be better next year, it means the Pac-12 will have a lot of good teams and won't get another 2-team snubbing.

OSU didn't have too much luck against teams from the Palouse this year.

How does it go in football?  That grueling conference schedule kept out of the tournament because we all beat up on each other?

It's like saying "We're the best football teams left out of the BCS," except worse. Or saying "I am the best candidate not running for president," say, if you were governor of, say, Massachusetts, and finding out, say, the millions more you spent to take you to a higher office might not, say, work. Except worse.

RE: 2011-12 Pac-12 Basketball

I'm not saying that the schedule kept us out of the tourney. Our OOC performances did that. If we had done better OOC, we would have had many more teams in the tournament. E.g. switch one of Cal's conference wins with a win over Mizzou, and we wouldn't have been stuck in the play-in game. The resulting change in schedule strength would have probably locked in one more Pac-12 team. Of course, if Washington had done better OOC, they likely wouldn't have been snubbed. Simply put, the NCAA selection committee has to pay an extraordinary amount of attention on OOC performance. Football isn't as punishing on having a strong OOC or performing well in OOC games.

Stanford Routs Minnesota 75-51 to Claim Second NIT Title

http://www.gostanford.com/spor.../032912aaa.html

NEW YORK (AP) - Aaron Bright came off the bench to spark Stanford to an NIT title.

The sophomore point guard had 15 points and six assists in Thursday's 75-51 rout of Minnesota to earn most outstanding player honors, energizing the Cardinal just as the coaches had hoped when they took him out of the starting lineup in mid-February.

Good for Stanford. Like any NIT run give way, Stanford should be a lot better next year, and more importantly, their coach bought himself another year.

This Year in Pac-12 Men's Basketball

http://pac-12.org/BasketballM/...Basketball.aspx

PAC-12 ROLLS THROUGH THE POSTSEASON. . . The Pac-12 posted a 17-8 (.680) record in postseason play. That equals the most wins ever in postseason play for the Pac-12. The league also produced 17 wins (17-8, .680) during the 1996-97 season in which Arizona won the national title. No other conference won more games during the 2011-12 postseason.
