A clear look at the one loss team resumes

I thought this graphic really shows the accomplishments of the teams ranked 2-5 in the current BCS standings.

Do any OKST fans really think they'd beat Bama though? Honestly?

Obviously, some do, perhaps many.  I'd opine the more level headed among them would thing they'd be a significant dog in that one.

There must be some.  I actually knew some Kansas State fans that thought they had a chance against  Oklahoma in 2003.  It takes all kinds.

Re: A clear look at the one loss team resumes

Here's something else to look at:

Opponents' overall winning percentage (of all unbeatens & one-loss teams):
1. LSU 84-60 .5833
2. Alabama 81-61 .5704
3. Boise St. 71-55 .5634
4. Va. Tech 79-63 .5563
5. Okla. St. 70-58 .5468
6. Stanford 71-76 .4829
7. Houston 61-82 .4265

Winning percentages of defeated opponents:
1. LSU 84-60 .5833
2. Okla. St. 64-53 .5470
3. Boise St. 62-53 .5391
4. Va. Tech 70-60 .5384
5. Alabama 69-61 .5307
6. Stanford 60-74 .4477
7. Houston 61-82 .4265

Team won-loss records:
1-T. LSU 12-0 1.000
1-T. Houston 12-0 1.000
3-T. Alabama 11-1 .9166
3-T Stanford 11-1 .9166
3-T. Va. Tech 11-1 .9166
6-T. Boise St. 10-1 .9090
6-T. Okla. St. 10-1 .9090

Inherited Records (wins of teams defeated vs losses of teams beaten by):
1. LSU 84-0 1.000
2. Alabama 69-0 1.000
3. Houston 61-0 1.000
4. Boise St. 92-2 .9687
5. Stanford 60-2 .9677
6. Va. Tech 70-3 .9589
7. Okla. St. 64-5 .9275

I took all four of these percentages and combined them for an overall score, and also did the same for all the two-loss teams to come up with a Top Twenty heading into Saturday's games:
1. LSU 12-0 3.1666
2. Alabama 11-1 3.0177
3. Boise St. 10-1 2.9802
4. Virginia Tech 11-1 2.9602
5. Oklahoma St. 10-1 2.9303
6. Houston 12-0 2.8530
7. Michigan 10-2 2.8389
8. Kansas St. 9-2 2.8179
9. Stanford 11-1 2.8149
10. Oklahoma 9-2 2.7975
11. Georgia 10-2 2.7881
12. Oregon 11-2 2.7794
13. South Carolina 10-2 2.7714
14. Southern California 10-2 2.7645
15. Texas Christian 9-2 2.7215
16. Arkansas 10-2 2.6886
17. Wisconsin 10-2 2.6649
18. Michigan St. 10-2 2.6586
19. Arkansas St. 9-2 2.5686
20. Southern Mississippi 10-2 2.4607

Of course, there will be readjustments after Saturday's games, with further tweaking to account for games vs FCS opponents and overtime wins & losses.

In effect, you made a computer poll.  (Not meant at ALL to be a criticism.)

Anything with Boise 3rd isn't much of a poll.

I'm sure there were some Utah fans that thought they would beat Bama in 2008.....oh wait a minute......

OSU has an offense that no one in the SEC can sniff and a d that creates nearly as many turnovers as LSU.

And a defense that ISU scored more points on. :)

There D can play when they want to. They came up big against OU when it mattered the most to impress the voters. To bad in actuality it didn't matter.

I remember a so-called unstoppable Oklahoma offense averaging 54 points per game playing Florida for the national championship in 2008 and only being able to muster 14.  I remember a vaunted Texas Tech offense playing Alabama in the Cotton Bowl years back when Shula was the Bama coach and losing 13-10.  I also remember my boys from Oxford holding down Oklahoma St. to 7 points a couple years back.  Point being, the vaunted Big XII offenses don't fair so well against the SEC.  Thankfully, the most impressive thing that a one loss team can have on its resume is those 3 little letters right beside it's name: S-E-C, and soon Coach Hugh Freeze will bring Ole Miss to the mountain top.

Ole Miss ain't going nowhere without another Eli Manning type of player or 2 or 3.

All those examples of Big 12 teams losing mean squat...different teams, different years. Nebraska in the 90s produced some of the if not the greatest teams in CFB history and they played in the Big-12.

Nebraska ran the ball and played defense, and they were good on the line of scrimmage. The Big XII no longer plays that style and its teams don't match up with the elite SEC defensive fronts, so they have trouble scoring. Those bowl games are proof positive of that. Alabama has 12 or 13 first day draft picks in their starting 22 and Oklahoma St. has 2. That's a big difference. As for Ole Miss, we have a coach now.  It won't be long until Ole Miss returns to the glory days of Johnny Vaught.  Hugh Freeze will take Ole Miss to the mountaintop.

Watch and see how Hugh Freeze recruits....Believe what you want, Ole Miss will be in the SEC Championship Game in two years, and we know where that gets you!
