I hear James Donovan, formerly of Hawaii is your new AD. Any word when the Stevie Wonder concert fundraiser will be held?

This kind of reminds me of Long Beach hiring Shumard after his debacle at Fullerton. No error is so grave as to keep someone else from hiring the damaged retread. At least he will be better than the interim guy.

From everything I've ready, not my (and I dare say many many others) first choice.  But to be fair, judging by a thread on the BW board, observations from UH fans suggests Donovan might be a good choice after all.

I remember a lot of disappointed voices when Burton was named the new coach.  To a man I'd say those same voices changed their tune in 2004.  The AD cards are delt, so lets give it a while to see if this is a winning hand as well.  Besides, he's a consumate football guy.  So mayby there is hope for that "White Elephant" at the NW corner of the campus in the near future.

Has his own dedicated board, how bad could he be?

Things I like: His Dad graduated from CSF; He is a Servite grad; He seems approachable and down to earth and has a sense of humor. He certainly has the qualifications. And if anyone is ever going to bring back Titan football, it's going to be him.

His number one goal for the next five years should be to upgrade our dump of a gym. Either gut it entirely and make it an arena or get plans in place to build a new one.

Things not sure about: Can he make the tough decisions and really make the necessary changes this department desperately needs. Last thing we want is another AD who is too nice and afraid to get rid of the dead weight. He should start with the easiest and most obvious, and that is to replace our compliance director. Then get a dedicated fundraiser, in that order.

Man is this the best material you can come up with. Then again can I expect more from Long Beach?

Someone at the top who sounds like they will make an effort to get students support.

"The three prongs are the school and institution, it's the student body and athletic department, and the donors and corporate donors," Donovan said. "They've worked very hard on the third prong here for many years, but the students are what we are going to have to work with and the administration is going to have to figure out a way to support."

"We have to figure out a way to make it more attractive for those 5 to 6,000 to show up to events. Part of it is just asking: What can of things can we do?"

Good article but they failed to mention who actually stole the money.

You guys are wound a little too tight. Given the budget and financial situation, you landed a guy with experience running a much larger department. I sincerely wish him good luck, the BW needs a strong Fullerton program.

LOL, if that's the only thing NOT to like, I'm for this guy.  I haven't heard any audio yet, but if he says "Titans" like that, he might be related to the guy who used to do PA for the lacrosse games (might still be same guy, haven't been there in a few years).

That could be a result of his 21 years living in Hawaii....
