I could not agree with the OP more. No disrespect to what Yeager and Vaughn did tonight, Deuces play reducing Big Al's effectiveness was just as important as all the points those two put up. (Yeager 8/11 from the 3, oh my goodness!!)
Deuce not stepping up tonight like he did, I'm really not sure we get this win tonight. That Williams got 16 boards is kind of misleading. A lot of boards we got tonight was more about Deuce keeping Williams from the rebound so one of our other guys could grab it. More over, a large part of the boards and points scored by Willaims were during those 7 minutes of Deuce sitting time.
When Deuce was forced to sit after getting his fourth foul, it seemed like we started loosing control of the game and doing all we could to hold on during those 7 minutes. Something like a 14 point lead quickly went down to 5 as if/when we missed our shot Williams got the rebound and the Nacho's would score. Fortunately we then hit a few and they missed a few keeping sufficient cushion until Deuce got back in.
The irony is Deuce got through the whole first half committing only one foul. Then three fouls in about three minutes, wow.
Deuce made a statement this evening, a really good one.
Good for him.
