Jared Brandon - Freshman at Fullerton Post Rating (4 votes)

This guy's legit. Honestly, when was the last time we've had a freshman other than a point guard give us quality minutes? I think you might have to go back to the Sneed Days to get your answer.

I knew he would be after I saw him at the blue/white scrimmage.  And I think I was the only one that gave him credit after that game....

BTW, we will get to see Taran Brown next, a 6'8" Freshman starter for UCSB.  He likes to shoot a lot of 3's and making a good fraction of them. I would think Sammy Yeager and/or Jared Brandon would have to guard him.

It would be an interesting match up and may be the key to stopping UCSB.

I stand corrected. Looks like Bad Holland had the last fabulous freshman here at Fullerton who wasn't a point guard: Josh King, a one-and-dunner.

'93-'94. 6.7 pts. avg. 3.8 rebs. avg.

RE: Jared Brandon - Freshman at Fullerton

Trivie, Josh King wore a size 18 shoe as a freshman. Every indication he had more growing to do beyond his listed 6'7". Played out his career at Rhode Island as I recall, and had a pretty good one. King was probably the one and only positive thing then 1st assistant Hawking did for our program.

Googled this up:

Ike Harmon averaged 15.3 points and 6.4 rebounds as a freshman forward in 1997-98.  That's about as good of a freshman season by a forward as you will find at Fullerton.  Sometimes he's not quite appreciated for how good he was the first couple of years because of how poor the last two years went as a team.

I stand doubly corrected. Agreed with Ike's performance as a freshman. Thanks for the stats, CSF. By the way, does your handle stand for Chief Stinky Finger?

Re: Jared Brandon - Freshman at Fullerton

Ike Harmon was it when I was a student.  Nothing memorable about that era. We really sucked.  I must have worn paper bags over my head during the games because I did not have good memories...not much of "college experience".

I did not follow Titans Basketball again until that NIT run with Bob Burton. Actually, I almost missed it too. I only learned about the 2004 Titans because a friend mentioned it.
