RE: Titans Ink Three
The big guys average out to a 6'8" guy "who can run, defend and rebound."
Lets add a couple more! Nice work by Andy and the staff.

RE: Titans Ink Three
What's interesting to me is that two of the three are freshman. That's something we haven't seen much of in a long time. Now, hopefully they can play and if so will stay for four years.

RE: Titans Ink Three
Yes, and more freshman to develop/be the template for the new Andy Newman era! It seems like years since we had this type of freshman action. Two solid ones this year in Jared Brandon and Darius Nelson, Two coming in so far next year. Interesting!

Since this trend seems to be showing up at other BW schools
Perhaps this success is in part due to Hawaii and San Diego State joining/rejoining the family?
Regardless, way to go Andy's Army!!!!!

The promise of better competition seems to have worked well for Long Beach recruiting. Good point Hoz.

Not to mention all the press IrvWhine has been getting recently what with all the noise surrounding their recent tree top commit s. If that all plays out, the CIA won't be so MIA in the coming years.

Re: Titans Ink Three
How many more scholarships to give? I am counting two more to give, am I right?
Sammy Yeager's, Kwame Vaughn's and DJ Seeley's scholarships should be available when they graduate. John Underwood's spot is the fourth and Givon Crump's is the fifth spot.
If that is the case, we should be hoping for two transfers who could immediately fill the shoes of our three seniors.

Re: Titans Ink Three
If Underwood doesn't go to school or class this year, what effect will that have on Fullerton, especially since he's not on the team this year?

Re: Titans Ink Three
I think Kirk reported on another thread that he continues to attend classes.
I know Thanksgiving was yesterday but I would pardon another turkey if he decides to rejoin the team or, for his own sake, complete his college education. I only wish success for John Underwood.

Yes, he is still going to class and is still on scholarship. I suppose there is a possibility he could return but it would take a lot on Underwood's part to make this happen. Never say never I guess but at least he is going to school so that his leaving does not hurt the scholarship situation.

Re: Titans Ink Three (1 vote)
I know it is early but, next year,
Alex Harris Jared Brandon James Johnson Marquis Horne James Douglas Chris Collins Ronell Abaekobe Darius Nelson
Would be joined by,
Michael Williams Steven McClellan
and newcomers,
Daniel Young Chauncey Hill Kerry Carter
We should have a group of experienced and capable ball handlers in Alex Harris, Michael Williams, James Douglas and Kerry Carter that would allow Darius Nelson and Jared Brandon to see some playing time at 3. James Johnson and Marquis Horne would have played many minutes and enough Division I experience. Steven McClellan would be stronger and ready.
The coaching staff should be able to sell this lineup to two high-profile Div I transfers who are interested in winning many Div I games. What do you think?

Re: Titans Ink Three
I think we have a decent foundation for next year, but we need to continue finding the DJ, Kwame, Sammy transfers. The list looks solid, but I don't see anyone that will be a flat out, "go to" player. I haven't seen Darius Nelson play, but of all of the players listed above Alex Harris and Marquis Horne are the only ones that are close to creating their own shot.
I agree that the list is solid enough to sell to a few transfers.

Re: Titans Ink Three (1 vote)
I am not the only one. A lot of posters here think Michael Williams is really good. Of course, Alex Harris does not need to by hyped. He already showed us what he can do. Alex Harris would be in many BW conversations in the next three years. James Douglas is beginning to emerge and should be a solid contributor once the BW games are underway.
However, we would be once again a short-team if we start with two or all three, so we need a bigger shooting guard in the mold of Seeley, Yeager and Vaughn and, an Amondi Amoke type of forward. I think the key is Jared Brandon and Darius Nelson's flexibility and ability to contribute at the smaller position 2 or 3. Yesterday, Jared Brandon shows he can also shoot the 3's at high volume and make them at high percentage. Darius Nelson has always been a wing in high school.
If there are proven winners out there, like Amondi Amoke, Scot Cutley, Orane Chin, Frank Robinson, Kwame Vaughn, Sammy Yeager or DJ Seeley, who want to transfer to the Southern California area this spring or has a need to go to a university closer to home due to hardships, here is your team waiting for you.

To Long Tusk and SoCalTitanJ:
Williams and Nelson are players. Like Harris. Everyone else will be supporting cast to those guys next year.

Re: Titans Ink Three
Jeremy Lamb would be a great fit. He is exactly what this team needs. We could win more games with him. We just have to be on his radar screen and the team should be able to sell itself.

Re: Titans Ink Three
I agree. The NCAA can be unforgiving to a program like ours. We do not have the benefit ($$$) of the BCS programs. We do not want our future to be decided by the NCAA committee.
How do we get the attention of potential recruits like him? It is not easy but we have to be more imaginative and creative.

Re: Titans Ink Three
Rufus, Tyler Lamb was a four star recruit out of high school. ESPN rated him the 28th. best player in the nation his senior year. Please see the following: http://espn.go.com/college-spo...4128/tyler-lambWe tend to attract only one and two star recruits out of high school. Tyler Lamb's ESPN scout grade was a 95. DJ Seeley received a 93: http://espn.go.com/college-spo...52812/dj-seeleyKwame Vaughn received a 66: http://espn.go.com/college-spo...33/kwame-vaughnSammy Yeagar received a 75: http://espn.go.com/college-spo...72/sammy-yeager

Re: Titans Ink Three
SoCalJ - you must understand...those sort of rankings are made by people that: a. don't live in Bend, Oregon b. don't know what a chest pass is c. aren't well short of 6"0" d. did not master the set shot (pre 3 point line)
