Stanford 

They beat USF last night by twelve. The good news is they were out-rebouned 45-29. The bad news is their 6-10 guy had 27 points.

Of the first two games of the year between Nevada and Stanford, I like our chances against Stanford since we have contrasting styles. Nevada is very quick and athletic -- like us -- and Stanford is a tad slow afoot but more physical.

If we hit our shots, 40% won't cut it, need to be closer to 50%, I think we have a shot.

This is unusual.  They return most of the starters from last year.  Last year, they were a perimeter oriented team with sometimes opportunistic inside game. They have some pretty good perimeter shooters who can bury us with 3's. They would engage us in a shootout if we let them.

The only difference is they also have the ability to dominate us on the paint if their perimeter game is not on.

Looks like the coaches may be onto something, picking Irvine to finish 3rd. Either Nevada isn't as good as expected or Irvine has a few more surprises up their sleeves. With basically their whole team from last year in tact, I predict the latter, unfortunately.

Interesting preview by the Sports Network. Do they do any research? As I understand it Andy Newman won't be there. No comment on that. No comment on the loss of John Underwood or the fact that Fullerton will be really small.

I'm also worried the Netword didn't pick Fullerton to win since it almost always does. If they think we're going to lose, it could be really bad.

Coach Newman will be there, he is with the team now at Stanford.  He can't be in the gym for tonite's game or for the Friday nite game; after that, his suspension will be over and he can coach Saturday and Sunday games in Reno.

For those that have the Pac 12 network on their cable systems the game will be televised starting @ 830..  For those with Cox cable its channel 78..  I won't be home to watch it so I am recording it, and will watch it tomorrow nite when I get home from work..
