I got a chuckle out of this quote about Dar from the article: "horrid shot-selection and high turnover rate" ... brings back bad memories just thinking about it.

Re: D-League Draft on Thursday Night

Well they can draft dre burns but i dont see him wasting a second in the D-League. Hes making pretty good coin overseas. Why? Cause he can flat out shoot. Something tucker cant nor will ever be able to do at a high enough level to play for good money someday.

And Cliff Clinkscales is already dribbling away the shot clock for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.

Love this comment on Dar.

-Dar Tucker used the second most possessions of any player on our list at 22 per game, but ranked last in PP at .81.banghead

Latavious Williams will make history tonight

Interesting, the D-League was pretty much created for guys who wanted to play pro ball without going to college first, yet it's taken this long for a high schooler to get drafted...

Re: D-League Draft on Thursday Night

If the NBA would pump enough money into the D-League for guys to make, say, 40-50k per year, we'd see more cases of high schoolers going straight there. Additionally, why not a scholarship fund set up for those who don't make it so they can go to college and pursue their degrees after their playing days are over? Baseball has done this for years and it seems to be a pretty good system.

So here is what we have so far....

Dar Tucker in 2nd round to Idaho Stampede

Delonte Holland in 3rd round also to Idaho

Draelon Burns in 5th round to Sioux Falls Skyforce

and Quemont Greer in 6th round to Austin Toros  (is Queen Snyder still coaching in Austin? )

The difference between these guys...

Those other 3 got through 4 years of college ball and got an education...

Dar couldn't even get drafted in the first round of the D-League draft.  What an absolute disgrace and I am glad he is not apart of this program anymore.

I really liked watching those other players while at DePaul and am glad to see they are still playing ball.

Are you still bitter that he left ? Let it go.  He made a mistake and he knows that.  Hopefully, he works hard at his game and makes top dollars.  Did Burns really leave with  a degree or he left after the season to work out for the NBA ?

I'm not bitter he left at all. I think I made it pretty well known that I thought he was a cancer and self-centered near the beginning of last season and there is no denying his talents, but he also hurt the team with his attitude.

And does he really KNOW that he made a mistake? He was delusional enough to leave in the first place, and couldn't even make the first round of the D-League Draft. He had to know he wasn't going to get picked.

His handlers have proabably put it in his head that this is somebody else's fault. In most of these situations its never the kids fault and that is sad.

I wish the best for Dar, I hope he makes the league and I hope he gets surrounded by some people looking out for his best interests with realistic goals in mind.

Time to let it go, guys.  He's gone.  Off to peeling potatoes in Idaho.

In the words of Coach Norman Dale...  "My team is on the floor"  (tonight!)
