Jabari Parker

Posted: 2/14/2013 3:29 PM

Jabari Parker

Not asking this question because he didn't commit to Depaul (I'm not bitter).

But during the Duke vs. North Carolina game last night Dick Vitale asked if he was the real deal. Of course it was confirmed that he was.

Anyone think Jabari Parker is over hyped?

That he won't be a one and done?

I'm sure its been discussed before on here but with his senior season well under way is he living up to expectations?

Re: Jabari Parker

i think JP has had a tough year because he was hurt.  Lets wait and see how he performs for Coach K.  He might step into Kelly's vacated slot in the starting line up next season.  JP could be a Paul Pierce type of player.  Not in the Jordan, LeBron, or Kobe realm, but an annual All-Star type of player for 10 years after his Duke days are over.

Good call, John92...his ceiling could be a Paul Pierce type (which is very, very very good) but maybe not a transcendant type like Lebron, Durant, Kobe, our very own Derrick Rose, etc etc

RE: Jabari Parker

probably more closer to Luol Deng, a tweener at the 3 and 4.  Like Luol, not sure if he's athletic enough for the 3.

Jabari is not as good of player as Derrick Rose was in high school. He may be slightly overrated. No killer instinct.

Parker is not quick enough to play the 3 and not strong enough to play the 4 in the NBA. One and Done should not be in his vocabulary.

The kid from Whitney is the best player in Illinois.

I admit I only seen Hill play 3 times, but no way is he the best player in the state. How can you say he is better than Okafor.

He reminds me a lot of Otto Porter and that's not a bad thing.

I think Parker is a good player, but I think that he will turn into a PF at Duke.I'm not a huge fan of any school I just watch a lot of basketball, but as far as his pro development I think Duke wasn't the best choice.I think DePaul or BYU would have been better for the simple fact that he would have been the guy from day one.

Re: Jabari Parker

No sour grapes at all from my standpoint.  Frankly, I don't think he is !00% since the foot injury.  He is the target when anyone plays his team and he was set back due to injury, but going 4-18 in his last game tells me he is not as dominant as he was last year.

That said, you get the feeling that JP can flip a switch at any moment and go out and dominate on the way to a 4th state title.

I disagree completely.  I think Duke was by far the best choice for JP.  He's Coach K's dream.

A big who can run, pass, handle the ball like a PG, shoot from anywhere on the court, cause matchup nightmares, and move between the 2, 3, and 4 positions in college.

He will open up the playbook for the greatest coach in the game right now, and the greatest coach in the game will find a way to get the most out of the most versatile college player in the country next year.

I agree that he won't be a Jordan, Lebron, or Kobe in the NBA, and should stay multiple years in college to build strength before transitioning, but he will be an absolute star at Duke.  As dissapointed as I was that he didn't come here, I'm looking forward to watching him at Duke next year because it will be something special.

RE: Jabari Parker

No way JP stays more than one year. If he does he runs the risk of his stock decreasing further
