RE: DePaul vs. Notre Dame postgame
We just don't have the talent, mentality, or coaching to close these ones out.

WIN SOME G%$ %$# GAMES
jeez...I invest so much friggin time and mental effort on this program. I was clapping today, I was excited...Purnell has changed the game plan and we're seeing a different team, but we're not seeing a team that can break through. It's year three for crying out loud. EVERY game we lose, we look that much more pathetic to people...they don't follow depaul...they check the box score and say...wow...what's new...depaul lost again. The losing is just god damn pathetic. These kids played well today, they played a good basketball game for 40 minutes...and yet coming off a overtime loss they can't breakthrough in a overtime game at HOME. I'm BEYOND FRUSTRATED

Re: DePaul vs. Notre Dame postgame
3 star players make 3 star plays....bottom line. Very low IQ (McKinney, Young).

Mental

What has Purnell done since he arrived that was ABSOLUTELY IMPERATIVE to move this program forward??????????? I'll answer it...NOTHING. The LOSING MENTALITY HAS NOT STOPPED. NOT ONE BIT. There is a aura of losing with this program...its what this program does and IT IS 100% ON THIS COACH TO START WINNING GAMES. You can't turn a program around until your players BELIEVE THEY CAN WIN. 2 Star, 3 Star, 4 Star...it doe snot ******* matter you guys. DePaul may have a talent problem, but they have a serious confidence problem.

Re: Box Score
Moses Morgan need to have way more games like the St. John's game. He has had way too many games where he looks like this in the box score. He needs to produce.

Re: DePaul vs. Notre Dame postgame
2nd straight game where the best we could do is a BY chuck from 3 pt land in a key situation w/ less than a minute left

Re: Box Score
Everyone on this board knows how I feel about OP but this game I felt is on the players. Thought OP had the team prepared.
Can't remember the last time on TV I felt energy in the all state. Although we lost it felt like old times today.
OP the last two games has changed his coaching style. He's proving to me he wants to win here. I think he truly is working hard. I just hope it starts to pay off soon.

Re: DePaul vs. Notre Dame postgame
They also fouled ND with 7 seconds left on the shot clock when they guy is almost at the half court line. They did not play smart in the Overtime. They played incredibly hard, but very poor basketball IQ won't cut it in the Big East.

Exciting game. I was impressed with the amount of students that came out for this game. It looked much better than the average 15 students + band on a Saturday afternoon.

Re: Game Story
Best part of today's game was the interview with Joey Myer. " cant win games when the other teams players are better then yours". Meaning, our players suck in a nice way. Same old s,?t

It's just the "intangibles" that I think a lot of people blow out of proportion in terms of importance, but if you have watched Demon basketball over the years you start to recognize just how valuable it is. There's just a lack of willpower from the top on down at DePaul and it shows in games like these.

Re: Mental
Agreed - too many non-constested inbound TOs, too many needless dangerous passes, too many times players didn't know where they needed to be on the court, not enough engagement of athleticism to sufficiently turnover ND in the half court, not enough "cleverness" exhibited by Melvin and Kirk when they are outsized to find ways to block out, finish, stay infront of their man or just get open looks via hesitation moves and up-and-undermoves (see Tim Duncan, McCale and Nash) not enough clutch genes in our primary scorers.
Its not a lack of raw talent or athleticism or effort today, its a huge lack of execution and basketball IQ. That falls largely, but not exclusively, on the coaching staff.
