Re: Looking Ahead to St. John's

Here we go. This game will say ALOT about our team and what to expect these final weeks of the season. I'll explain. We are coming off a god awful performance against Pitt. We now are headed to NYC to play a team that to be honest aren't that much better then us and a team that IMO we can beat. This game will say a lot about Purnell and a lot about the relationship he has with his current roster. If we come out and play well and play with energy and win, then the whispers about OP losing this team can be put to rest. If we come out and get whipped, then even Stevie Wonder can see what is happening in LP. IMO this is a very interesting game and am looking Foward to see what DePaul team shows up. Tommorw will speak volumes about what's going on "behind the scenes" in chi town. Go DePaul!!!

I hope we come out with a vengeance and play like we can beat this team. I remember the showboating SJU put on us last year and was disappointed we didn't play Chicago-style ball at the first game this year.

This team is so inconsistent with there effort not sure what to expect. Have to take it one game at a time with these guys.

Yes, this team is very inconsistent, but they're very predictable.  Poor rebounding, poor shot selection, lots of turnovers, and too many uncontested baskets due to the press.

No they are predictable. My bet is we add another loss to our resume.

Another season for me that I'm looking forward to the season ending so I don't have to think about this program anymore.

Disagree Bubba.

They have more talent and Lavin is better than Purnell. Not that Lavin is great but .....

Bubba, please stop this crap. You are just as SICK as many DPU fans who don't see the light. Get over this, I know it hurts for many DPU fans to admit how wrong we were on Lavin and how wrong most of you were on Ooops... Lavin is MUCH better recruiter and Coach than Oops. Lavin is not affraid to play big dawgs, his team is already battle tested. Don't start this crap about how we are better than them. Truth is we are not even close.

Mush, what are you talking about dude??? Read my recent posts. I'm clearly not singing OPs praises. Lavin is Lavin and I don't care how bad this gets am never gonna agree with you that we should of hired lavin. He's a bad coach that don't know his elbow from his you know what. Get over it mush. I don't care that you love lavin. Time to move on bro. I DON'T CARE ABOUT STEVE LAVIN

Oh and before you post your typical responce "why you so mad". I'm not mad at all. I just don't like Steve lavin and don't care that you do. It's very clear. I don't agree with you. Let it go. I did months ago

Bubba is spot on

This is a game that is winnable. If the demons come out with energy and shoot the ball a little better this game can be won. We should not get run out of the building.

If we do get blown out then OP has lost this team and jlp will have some decisions to make.
I have a feeling depaul will come out and play well and have a chance to win.

Re: Bubba is spot on

For the record I didn't want Lavin but I didn't want this guy either. Sitting here today I would rather be St Johns than an OP led DePaul group.

Re: Looking Ahead to St. John's

All of that said and referencing the first meeting between the two teams...  I wasn't all that impressed with St. John's.   Both teams were sloppy.  Had DePaul played up to their capability, they would have won that game.

Brandon Young didn't show up for that game.  It was flat out his worst performance of the year - 6 pts. 7 turnovers.  Some want you to believe that St. John's stopped Young.  B.S.  The only person that stopped Young was Brandon Young.  I haven't been critical of Young much, because he had been pretty consistent, but he didn't show up.

If Young had played better and DePaul not turned the ball over so much, they'd have won that game.

Re: Looking Ahead to St. John's

Same can be said about Harrison and Sampson. But keep hating on Lavin. He already beaten TWO ranked teams this year and currently 4th in the Big East. But yes his team played sloppy and we are not impressed. If Lavin was hired, we  would not be in this position where everyone wants to fire JLP and Oops. Its sad state of DPU bball were we can't even admit the obvious.

F*ck it.  I am conceding that Mush was right on this one.  Unless this team turns around this year (I don't see that) OP should be let go.  I still would not want Lavin.  But that being said Lavin would have been the better hire.

Stop the love affair with Lavin. He is not a good coach either!

Tracey Webster, Robert Smith, Ken Reeves, Pete Bell, they all could have done a better job so once again it's comparing who the larger midget is....
