Re: Rico
When the players start makng comments, the coaches have lost them. When players are fighting, the coach has lost them. When players get suspended for breaking team rules, the coach has lost them.
When walk ons get more minutes then scholarship players, you knw the coach has the wrong players.

Re: Rico
Don't fault Rico because the players were pushed around on the court. We have guards that avg more rebounds per game than our centers. That's a major problem. Rico is a fighter that don't like to be pushed around. Kirk & Robertson not so much. Let's face it they are both very soft players. Rysbach probably got more rebounds than both of them. Even Montay looked better than they did.

Re: Rico
I like that Rico tweeted this. It shows that he has heart and he wants his teammates to have some heart and fight. If we are going to lose by 38, i would rather lose with 5 guys going to war with effort. Maybe Clemons, Ryckbosch, Crocket, McD and McK. Whomever comes with 100% intensity would be on the floor for me. Rather lose with winners than lose with losers.

Re: Rico
Why was Tony Freeland ran off again???? Which great rebounder took his spot??? Hmm. Oh yea that's right. Can't keep stock piling 2star recruits. Something has to change on the recruiting trail. Do these guys need help selling the program? I'll do it for free. I'll make DePaul sound like South Beach, Vegas, The playboy mansion and heaven all wrapped in to one. LOL. J/K. But honestly come on.

Just to update everybody on how Tony's doing, he's currently averaging 9.5 points and 4.6 rebounds in 27 minutes/game at Long Beach State, all while shooting 60% from the field and 69% from the line. His last full season here (his sophomore year), he averaged an almost identical 9.6 points and 5.0 rebounds. Two thoughts... one, I'm really happy for the kid and it's nice to see him doing well. And two, what are the chances Clemons or Rico ever average 9.5 and 5 in a season (let alone their Soph year)?

Re: Rico
What Clemons and Rico will do will be pure speculation. The more immediate problem is 1) Kirk averages 5.8 ppg and 3.3 rpg in 23 minutes, and 2) Robertson averages 2.7 ppg and 3.2 rpg in 15 minutes. I don't think we've played any team this year with worse production at this position. Ktrem11 wrote:

Re: Rico
This is not the first time he has called out his teammates on social media. I remember seeing something on Facebook after the 2 game skid early in the season. We then went on a 7-0 run, and I think maybe he thinks that helped. Regardless, I agree with lasgrad. OP may as well stick a fork in this team, they are completely lost.

RE: Rico
Numbers are great, but does anyone know why Tony has only played 8 games? Was he injured, or is he getting spot duty?

Clemons hope?
I didn't watch any of the Pitt game ( Thank God!!) but I did follow some scoring updates on twitter. I gave up in the end. After looking at the box score, Montray Clemons did play 11 minutes and score 6 points. I am sure this is clean-up time against the Pitt scrubs, but without seeing any of it, I have no idea if there is hope for him or not? at 6' 7" and 235 pounds I think we should find out. Even if it was against Pitt's scrubs...those players would be regulars for us. Someone who knows the real answer please let me know.
If Young, Melvin, Crockett, McDonald, McKinney, Morgan, and maybe Clemons and some other bench guys can't turn this around now, why not fire OP right now? You know...get a jump on the other schools who will be hiring.
Tomorrow is promised to no one… Walter Payton

Re: Rico
No way Clemons is 6'7". He looks smaller. There is no future with this current group. Start playing McDonald, Ryckbosch, Robertson, Crockett, Clemons and Price a lot. Figure out what you have. Either they are the future, or we're done for 2-3 more years.

Re: Rico
It's no secret that I know tony personally and really like the kid. When he was getting ran off people told me "it's the new era, better recruits are pushing him out". I didn't like it, but in true bubba fashion I went with the flow and shut up about it. Now we have brought in not one recruit that's way better then Tony. Now there's talk of running off Price and Clemons. For who??? Stock piling JUCO kids and 2star recruits isn't the answer. OP knows that. That's what even concerns me more.

Re: Clemons hope?
Totally agree with you Bubba. I liked the heart that Tony played with. He did a nice job inside for us despite his size. I would take him over any of our big men.

Please stop this RICO non-sense...You have to have talent to win. Heart will not win many games, see Mike Bizkous.

Re: Clemons hope?
I'll take a player with more heart than talent on this team right now. We seem to have enough players with very little talent or heart.

Re: Rico
While it may shock you, I totally agree w/ you here Bubs. I thought Freeland's effort every night was outstanding. He was not afraid to mix it up down low w/ bigger bodies and was productive. Had alot of heart. Hated to really see him go as I didn't see from a rating standpoint that those brought in to "replace" him were any better but I deferred to the coaching staff's assessments. Now after seeing a sample of the repalcements' work, I would kill to have Freeland back. We lose because the other team is better, while not fine w/ me, I can accept if the guys going go out there are fighting. This team has no fight in it whatsoever which makes the losing even that more unacceptable. Not saying Freeland would have been a difference maker but he would be giving more production than we are currently seeing form the 4/5 (depending on what you classify Melvin at) and a way better effort.
