Well, I will say the obvious. I would go along with this, if I thought there was good coaching or good recruiting.

Bsi5000 has said all that is needed to be said, how can JLP look at this team and our team defensive/offensive fundamentals as well as recruiting and truly believe that we will make sizeable progress.

RE: AD sees better days ahead

Sorry, I want to puke when I read that article.

A. Fred Mitchell is anything but a hard questioning writer, he pretty much layer a puff piece out ther for JLP.
B. YEAR FIVE??? sorry Jeannie, if you made the right hire we would have seen the turnaround in year three... Not looking into the abyss in terms of on court and off the court performance.
And C. She's the last person I want talking about the new conference and stadium. She loses ALL freaking credibility when she says " we continue to have a great experience at All State Arena"

Really. Really? That great experience where you lie about attendance and you have generational fans give up and tear up tickets after every game. She's delusional. Can't stand it....

RE: AD sees better days ahead

Dave Leitao was 100 percent correct about Jeanie when he said 'she is the best boss I've ever had'.

When you have an AD who is delusional and who keeps on writing the checks how could any coach not say she's great. OP and his staff are rewared for failure. Great leadership Depaul!

I was so sad to read this article. JLP has learned nothing from the Wainwright era and OP isn't going anywhere.

Hard to support a program that keeps on making the same dam mistakes over and over again.

I'm disgusted.

This article really states the nonsense surrounding this program. The coaches are not teachers and can't recruit to even make this team look somewhat competitive...even in a down year for the Big East. I feel bad for a kid like BG Jr. who has to deal with this next year.

LOL!!! What do you expect her to say???? How many ADs toss there current coach under the boss to the media? No matter how bad it is? You guys are reaching and bitching just to bitch. It's a useless article and Jeannie is just giving us "athletic director" talk. Just like all the others do across the country.

Bubba I love ya but i disagree with you here. Jeanie should come out and say she is extremely frustrated with the current state of the program and will do everything in her power to change it. Don't try and put lipstick on a very ugly pig and treat the fans like they're stupid.

Bubba don't insult this board with putting the word smart and Jeanie in the same sentence. She's not fooling anyone.

Windy I wasn't insulting anybody. I was simply talking about this article. I find it funny people started going off after reading this article. It's simply AD talk and doesn't mean nothing. I didn't defend anybody or say things are looking better. Did I? My point was many of you are just looking for anything to bitch at.

Bubba, we are pissed when we hear JLP speak because it's been her decisions that have led to the disaster the program has become and she has the balls to come out in this article and say better days are ahead when the current squad is looking at another 2-3 win season, getting its ass handed to it after being off a week and have an incoming recruiting class devoid of top 100 talent, a coaches son and two unknown JUCOS.

Yep, better days ahead indeed. And many true fans who have given an ounce of devotion to the program found the content insulting knowin that better days are no ahead.

I'm sure it does as it does for us. It's just hard for us to swallow sunshine and rainbows when reality is far from it.

Fair enough Bubba.

When OP was hired by his resume credits I thought he was a good hire. So I won't fault JLP for that one.

What I fault her for is keeping him. If OP and staff are not fired after this season then things are going to get ugly. GET SOME BALLS DEPAUL!!! and do the right thing here. Year 3 and we look like the same team 4 years ago. Doesn't take a genius to realize OP was the wrong hire. Now man up to it Depaul and fix it!

Windy, Do you really pull the plug after year 3? When MANY MANY on this board said this was a 4-5 year project?(you all know who you are) I mean am not saying he deserves another two years windy. I'm just saying he took this program over when it was in the dumps. So in year 3 he gets axed? Would another coach jump at DePaul knowing he's got 2-3 years to win? I'm not happy. OPs recruiting is bad and we seem to be on our way to another 16-18 loss season. I just think you have to give him 4 full years before you throw in the towel. If we don't improve on the court next year and more important the recruiting don't improve then we must make a move. Again am not happy or defending Oliver.

My biggest concern right now is it seems the players have tuned out OP. This could get very very ugly.

RE: AD sees better days ahead

It's not THAT we're losing Bubba it's HOW we're losing. The defense is atrocious and when the press doesn't create points our half court offense is literally worse then a high school team. You can explain to a new candidate that the reason we fired Oliver wasn't because we were losing it was because we didn't feel that he taught his team proper defensive principles and that when his system didn't work he refused to abandon it and didn't have any offensive scheme to run against teams that were able to slow the game down. All that perspective coach has to do is pop in some game film and see DPU wasn't lying to him. Now that being said I think if JLP did fire Purnell after this year she'd have to step down as well because itd be a horrible indictment on her.

Whether we like it or not OP is getting year 4.

Re: AD sees better days ahead

Let's leave Bubba alone.  He's not the coach; he's not the recruiter; he's just a passionate fan.  The blame belongs to the university president, the AD, and the head coach.  When things are this embarrassing, blame should fall on all these people.  All three need to go as they've proved they can't revive the program.   Three years should result in progress.  We all said that by year 3 we should not be getting blown out; we should be in games.  This was over in the first 10 minutes, and Pitt is not the #1 team in the nation.   No need to do anything now, but all three need to be removed by the trustees at season's end.
