DePaul vs. Arizona State Pre-Game

with all of the discussion on ASU, I thought I'd start a fresh thread for you all to talk about that one.

Anybody think that Charles McKinney can matchup with Jahii Carson?

Below is a story on the Sun Devils...

No contest...Jahil will eat McK lunch....Zona state  is ranked 41 RPI wise, if we somehow come out with a win on their home court will help our cause.

You're not gonna stop Carson but maybe Mck length can slow him down a little. Any update on TV info BBD? I know it's on PAC 12 network which I don't think is available in the Midwest do you think a local channel like METV picks it up?

If we do slow down Carson it'll give us a chance to have a nice road win

Surprised they are 7-1. This will be a huge test for us, I think we'll make it competitive.

Let's Get This Out There Now Then......

How big of a win would it be defeating ASU on the road? I don't want know back tracking after the fact. Win or lose.(which a few of you on this board do) So lets hear it. How big a win would it be?

Put me on the record Bubs, at this point in the season it would be a big win for us no question. Obviously if they tank in conference play (I really don't think they will) it will take the luster out of it. But right now if we go in there and win ill be impressed. Then we're staring a 10-3 non con record in the face which I would be very okay with given that we lost 3 games in November.

RE: Looking Ahead to Arizona State

wouldnt be a big win to me at all, in fact i expect to win the game.  ASU is 144 in kenpom, almost 30 spaces lower than us and thier SOS is 337 (out of 47) and 30 spots worse than ours.

We are a better team than ASU in every advanced metric.  Ok, it is on the road, but t call this a huge win would be inaccurate, b/c we are a better team.  Nice win, no doubt but one we need to get if we want to take the next step

I actually had this penned in as a loss so in my humble eyes, this would be a nice win...let's put this in perspective mrap, we are still learning how to win and it's a road game against a power conference against a team with some momentum...I think we'd all be ecstatic with a victory

I already took Jahii Carson down....

Not real sure about how "big" Bubba, but would impress ME more than the Auburn win did.

this would be a very big win...from a depaul fans perspective since no one else follows us nationally. As I pointed out before Auburn, the last time we won a BCS road game in non conf was 2006 against Wake...Auburn now makes that two (2) road BCS wins in six (6) years. This team has been so pathetic over the last 6 years I am not afraid to say this would be a HUGE win. Maybe not huge in the eyes of anyone but us DePaul fans, but the depths of our despair is unexplored oceans deep. For DePaul to win 2 OOC road games against BCS teams means something...dare I say the word "maturation"?

RE: Looking Ahead to Arizona State

Also this win (pending another disaster) sets us up to have a 10-3 non con record and an undefeated December (the schedule after ASU isn't particularly difficult). After a rough November that would give us some nice momentum going into Seton Hall.

Agreed, the consensus was that we would be 11-2 or 10-3 in the preconference sked, so if we run the table, we'd be right there...and with a bullet because we'd be riding a 8-game win streak into conference play....alot of work till then, however.

RE: Looking Ahead to Arizona State

Yup agreed. We'd be right where most thought, who cares how you get there. We were all pretty sure wed beat us on a very soft non con and so far, more or less we are right where most expectedThe team would then have 18 more games to prove itself. We've seen some good and bad things. Need to see the good things more often. This team will be judged by its performance in the BE and most of us agree with that

I don't like looking ahead because god only knows what will happen vs UWM.

We bring the same type of intensity to the road game vs ASU as we did against Auburn we might sneak out of Tempe with another road win. I just want to see these guys turn the corner and start smacking inferior opponents around and playing with and beating some of the better competition.

Safe to say Sam, you will be at the game?
