Re: Chicago State vs. DePaul Post Game
Ugly win, but IMO theres really no such thing. 1st half was brutal. 2nd half? Played a little more like we are capable of. 5-3. It is what it is. On to Sunday.

Re: Chicago State vs. DePaul Post Game
The Positives: - Thank you for making your FT's guys. - I'd go to war with Clahar and Mckinney any day. If the gentlemen with more talent had their heart we'd be in business. -I didn't mind what I saw from Robertson tonight. Stayed out of foul trouble, a few strong boards, was a presence at times on defense. -Young/Melvin keep doing their thing. It gets overlooked perhaps too much, but without them...
The ugly: -Is it too much to ask to stop posing for the cameras when we are in a dogfight against an inferior opponent? - Please stop the awful turnovers. - Hey Morgan, I don't expect you to hit every shot...but come on man. Make yourself useful in some other way out there if the shot isn't falling. - Can we have a game plan to attack a zone? flashes to middle/highpost? something anything? - Will we EVER put together 40 minutes of AVERAGE basketball. Not ever good just average? -The little "Weave/Wheel/Swing" reminds me of something we ran on my 8th grade team. I know OP isn't an offensive guy, but how about we occasionally see something with a little more sophistication.

Umm yea, pretty close. You wanna rip the way we played in the 1st half? Go for it. Don't Blame ya. But it's just these over the top posts that make me chuckle and shake my head.

Re: Chicago State vs. DePaul Post Game
Nice to see that we have a second gear but we clearly did not come ready to play.
Not much to say really, they clamped down and did what they needed to do to avoid colossal embarrassment.
A win is a win.
Mckinny is the only player I would trust in a fight. He is the only guy who plays with toughness on the entire team,
We lose so many loose balls and it just kills us.
Fantastic defense in the second half though, lets do it for forty minutes!

Re: Chicago State vs. DePaul Post Game
Type of game that they played not to lose. Team did not look prepared until second half.

Re: Chicago State vs. DePaul Post Game
I like to see the box score after the game to help reinforce what I saw on t.v. What I thought I saw was a team, in Chicago State, that was tired and ran out of gas in the second half more than we just outplayed them. The reason we won is we have more D1 caliber players than CSU plain and simple, I am not saying BE caliber players as that is debatable but D1 players. Chicago St. basically played the same 5 guys the whole game. Robinson, arguably their best player, sat because of early foul trouble and got his 4th early in the second half to really be a non-factor. The pace was up tempo and it finally caught up w/ the Cougs at around the 5-6 minute mark. Look how many soft passes that we intercepted in the interior and how many shots they took that hit the front of the rim. They were totally tired out towards the end of that game.
When they were fresh we had a 20-10 lead midway through the first and they outscored us 34-10 to take a 44-30 HT lead. Plus their big white kid outscored our whole front line of Kirk, Robertson and Melvin 20-19. I don't know much but I know that ain't too good.

RE: Chicago State vs. DePaul Post Game
Tale of two halves. First half was near vomit inducing and second half was much better. The defensive intensity was night and day between first and second half. Ugly win, but a W goes down as a W no matter how ugly

TV Announcers
Anyone count how many times they bragged about Chicago State's arena?
Not sure what was more painful. Them or the play on the court.

Given the choice of listening to Kenny McReynolds or a sharp stick in the eye...
I'd take the stick.
