Makes ZERO sence to play at the United Center. ZERO. It's a freaking 22,000 seat Arena. We have like 7,000 fans left. Stupid move if we bite on this. Stay in Rosemont If this is the other option.

If Depaul handles this decision like they hire coaches were in for disappointment.

Smart move forget the United Center. Will not have scheduling priority etc. and the free rent ends in 10 years.  If we have a doner and the money 75 million build a 10,000 to 12,000 seat arena near Mc Cormick place. That will be the best for the program and we will have naming rights.

Probably why the article said they would take the end seating out... at least that is how I read it.

Who do you think the donor will be, very few people in this country can throw 50-75 million at something. The only ones from DePaul that I know of would Driehaus and Michael Jaharis, and given that Richie just dropped 30 million on the business school could it be Jaharis lined up? DePaul does have naming rights as well, no greater ego-boost then having your name on a basketball arena

The best financial position for the university is to take the United Center deal and play all 16 Big East games there, but the non-conference games at McGrath-Phillps (on-campus). Otherwise the only other site that should be considered is Finkl Steele if they are looking to build a stand alone.

United Center offer does sound appealing. If I was Depaul I would make one last request to seal the deal if we have the upper hand. That would be for the restaurant to be called 'Bubba's Nacho Stand'. Now we have a deal.

Great point. I think it would only be 8 BE games, though. Let's say they have 16 total home games. Play 12 at the UC and 4 on campus.

Save all of the money you would have paid in rent those 10 years and put it toward recruiting, player amenities, MARKETING, and a capital allocation plan to buy a Finkl Steel or a Morton Salt type place that is actually near campus.

The idea of the McCormick Place arena is great, but the location is not. Move that arena to Elston & Armitage and you have a winner.

I like that Windy lol. My thoughts on this is that we will be out in Rosemont for years to come. We just aren't gonna snap are fingers and build arena. It doesn't happen like that. I don't see DePaul taking the UC deal either. My prediction is we end up in Chicago but years down the road. Rosemont it is for awhile. IMO

Bubba should get royalties if the Nacho stand bears his name ;) As for Rosemont, I think we're out of there in 2015, I don't know where yet but something tells me once that contract is up we are gone

Re: United Center offers Blue Demons free rent

respectfully disagree Bubba - DePaul can't afford to stay in Rosemont any longer. I agree that the arena deal seems like it could be tough from a time perspective, but if that's the case, then the Chicago Stadium deal is 100% something they take and don't look back on. DePaul has a major public opinion problem and there are numerous factors associated with this, but one contributing factor is the arena. Aside from winning, which right now is tough enough, DePaul needs a shot in the arm and this arena issue can provide some buzz.

I like this idea.. we get to associate ourselves with a winning program (banners next to bulls and hawks championship banners). This also gives us time to save some money to buy something closer to campus (finkl site).

Also, from a chicago recruiting angle. You don't get more chicago than playing in the House that Jordan built every home game.

Lol. Not sure that will mean anything to anybody. Playing at the UC IMO will not help recruiting at all.
