ASU #9 in Baseball America 2015 poll

Nice, I think they have us #9 judging by how the writing goes but we certainly are #9-#16.  Thank you Tracy SMith without even coaching a game you have brought us back to being respected as a powerhouse program!!

Re: ASU #9 in Baseball America 2015 poll

Exactly!!!   People know we return almost the whole team and that these kids were underachievers under Esmay and now the hope is Smith will get them to play up to potential and we will be a regional host and have a shot at Omaha and that is all you can ask.  I honestly expected us to be in most pre season top25 list but to be predicted in Supers already is a wonderful surprise.  And yes I know its early for someone who wants to rain on the fun parade and bring up all the question marks we have.   Just enjoy the early hype okay it has not been around these parts since 2011.

Re: ASU #9 in Baseball America 2015 poll

I don't know if they will win it all or even make the CWS but in the article it says they return almost everyone from a team that did make regionals this year.

Counting the 4 Pac12 teams BA list in its top25 plus Oregon and OSU and UA who all should make post season it would appear Pac12 will have 7-8 post season teams.

Unless Lopez can magically make some pitchers appear I don't see how UA makes it. They ZERO pitching.

Oregon St was cleaned out. Conforto, Davis, Wetzler. etc, etc etc all gone. Might not even be ranked to enter the year.

Oregon, without looking at their roster, returns much more and I believe have most of their pitching staff back. Probably enter the year 15-20 range.

Oregon will show up in the polls after the new shoes arrive at the sportswriters door. Phil probably dropped em off at the wrong house.

I doubt they are deep enough and talented enough to overcome losing their top two starters from the 2014 season

Re: ASU #9 in Baseball America 2015 poll

They still should be a post season team.  UA was very young and has pitchers coming in.   We should get 7-8 post season teams if we end up with good rpi's.

very optimistic. IMO, we'll never get in more than 6 again. Guys like Fitt are going to continue to push their ACC/SEC agenda and they will continue to get 15-18 bids between them while everyone else fights for scraps. This ACC vs SEC CWS final is just the beginning

I can't figure out how Fullerton is always rated so high in these pre-season polls.

What pitchers do they have coming in that are going to make a difference?

Rat fans say they have pitchers coming in, im not a rat so I don't know who they are.   They should be better just by subtraction.

Re: ASU #9 in Baseball America 2015 poll

Their top 2 pitching commits have both signed to play professionally. One a 1st rounder, another a 12th rounder.
After them are 2 local kids from Sandra Day O'Conner HS: Ming and Oertega. Probably good pitchers, but not world beaters yet.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Farris was their only real pitcher and they lost him to draft.
