Lee offered extension from C of C

Offered 7 yr extension at 200k a year. On twitter they are saying he is expected to bring his whole staff from C of C if offered the position which an announcement could come in two to three days.

Are we willing to pay his entire staff? I know paying assistants has been a major issue with us before, hence why we've lost so many great ass. coaches over the Murph years.

If Lee opts to stay at CofC who is our plan B?

Sounds like this is our boy as Doug Haller is saying we offered him the job.  Young guy with a proven record and post season success at a school with 1/20th the resources he will have at ASU.  I like it

What is the paper for Charleston?  I would like to read some of their local sports articles on Lee to see what they say.

Hey Spay, where did Haller say or report that?  Can't find it.  I don't really like it, he is a good enough coach, but like Metcalf said, he has all his ties in the east, and is just waiting for other jobs in that area to come open.  It would really suck if ASU hires him, and then he bails in a year or two to Clemson.

It was not Haller it was an article by Jeff Metcalfe and Deillaw1 posted a thread on it that's a few spots down on the menu.

Lee may or not be the favorite but Ray Anderson is still interviewing people this week so we will see what happens.

I trust Anderson to make the right choice.  I don't think he is the type of person that would hire a coach believeing he would bail after 2 years.  He is a smart man.  Also, this is ASU, you would have to be dumb to bail on a primo job like this.  This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for him.

Maybe we can offer him an absurd buyout. Similar to au if DickRod bolts to West Virginia. noidea

True but Clemson is also a premier job it has great history with over 20 CWS like us just lacks that national title and if he is from South Carolina that combined with CU would be a lot to not take.

The more I think about it, the more I think Lee is using us.  Doesn't anyone find it surprising that he is the only one that has been confirmed as having been interviewed, when we know RA has interviewed others and may still be conducting interviews.  It is also interesting that it was Kendall Rogers (with eastern ties) who first leaked this, not someone with local ties.

True and Tracy Smith is another guy with conflicting information.  Someone tweeted he was not interested in the ASU job but then since his name has popped back up a few times and it was rumored ASU asked IU to interview him.  Rumors galore with little truth

In the article it never mentions that he was offered the job. It says basically our best guess in other words means that they have no idea! Anderson will make the right move and I would not worry about anything till even after the World Series is over.

RA could be floating Lee's name in hopes of driving the price down on someone like Smith.

Monte Lee has a nice little gig in Charleston. Former player there biding his time until Clemson or USC comes open. CofC upped the ante and I think he stays down here until a situation comes available. Born and raised in South Carolina, he will never truly transform into a Sun Devil. I can't see him dragging his family up from a lifestyle stand point from a place like Charleston to move to Tempe, the desert, and the city life. It won't happen unless RA really wants him and throw's some serious bank at him. Great up and coming coach but I think he would bail as soon as an offer came from Clemson or USC (Gamecocks)

Re: Lee offered extension from C of C

I just looked at the coaching situations at Clemson and South Carolina and there is NO WAY IN Rick Flairs name that he will turn down ASU waiting for one of those jobs. Look at those coaches and tell me either is going to make a change within the next 4 years. Not happening barring cancer or something. Sorry if that is insensitive.

The truth is he just might want to stay back in that area. I used to live in Nashville and Richmond. From that I learned that East Tennessee, NC, SC, Virginia, parts of Kentucky, it's nice out there and a good life. If that's where his family is, it's where he is from, and CoC just doubled his salary then good for him if he wants to stay.

CoC is right there on the beach, it is very green, a ton of history there and it is probably a culture shock to go from that to Tempe. IDK.

Really?  Do a google search for Jack Leggett job security, You will find a few newspaper columns that say differently.  The Clemson AD has a quote from a few weeks ago saying "Id be less than honest if I said removing Leggett wasn't considered".

wow.  The guy has like 27 tournament appearances out of 28 seasons, 6 CWS appearances, and was inducted into the hall of fame in January and a group does want to fire him because even though he has made the post season, he hasn't made the CWS in 4 years.  Wow is all I can say.

Not exactly a ringing endorsement from the Clemson AD in that article and their fans were not thrilled on the CU board during regionals.   Clemson easily could fire him and its ridiculous to think they could not.
