Thanks for the rememberance.  We played rather poorly tonight, but pulled it out.  I think we can top the Huskies on Saturday.

Everyone has to put down their Haterade.  This has been a great season so far.devildance.gif

Me? :)

The schedule was there for it early. Now is where it gets tough, though I don't think Washington is that good. Arizona was awful against them and won.

+1000.  This team is so much fun and I havent missed a game (on TV) all season.

I even have my girlfriend (who never lived in AZ and has only visited) screaming at the TV and yelling for Jahisus and to make our foul shots.  She wouldnt have been half as interested last season.

Go Devils!!!

To this day, Arizona is the only team in the original Pac-10 or Big-10 to have never played in the Rose Bowl.

I'll admit that I wouldn't have guessed it.  I would have thought 5-3 was our ceiling.

I knew Felix would have a good year, but I didn't anticipate how good.  And Jahii is even better than I thought he'd be as a freshman.

Re: 6-2 ............. who wouldve guessed it

If Carson had played last year, that team is probably 9-9 or so in the league just on the difference it would have made in turnovers.

Carson being a scorer as well, plus the predictable improvement in Bach's game (albeit still inconsistent), and adding Gordon, and I think 11-7 or 12-6 was a pretty reasonable expectation, even though few had it.

What may make the difference to going the next step up is if Felix can continue to do ... well, darned near everything. I had hoped he would settle for fewer 3's and work on getting his game going to the basket before taking the outside shot, but he's just been incredible.

How many guys in the conference would you trade Felix for? Anyone?

Seems to me that the players are taking accountability but more importantly, they know when they goof and want to work on their mistakes. Don't really follow bball, but may be Musselman is the difference.

Props to asu for going on the road for another conference win.  Not easy to do.  This asu team is winning plenty of respect with its tough play.

I think everything is the difference. These guys seem to like each other, they crave success, they have both a steady hand and a clear on-court leader, fresh ideas on the coaching staff both from the assistants and from the head coach...it's just been a total reset and everything about it has worked so far. Really have to give credit to everyone from the AD to Sendek to the players.

Helps that the team is just a lot better this year. :)

The wide swings that can occur from one year to the next in CBB are pretty amazing really, and should bring both optimism and temperance when projecting even one year out.  This is a major reason I discount people who say things will always be a particular way for a given program.

Me...

it's amazing what a guard with ball skills can do and this year ASU got 2 of them...and the improvement in Colvin not being forced to handle the ball all the time, Jordans improvement and Felix stepping up...saw it comming, but still a long way to go...the bench (after Colvin & Ruslan, good D) need to step it up, (Jacobsen, Barnes need consistency) the passing around the zone last night was very good...

"One kid can make a huge difference in a basketball team." -- coach I used to know.

That said, there is a need for realism in fans. Just because you can recruit one guy that caliber of Jahii Carson doesn't mean you can recruit 10 from wherever you want in the next 2 years. Building a program is a process and its messy and there are ups and downs.

Hopefully Jahii takes the Harden route and stays until he's sure to be a top 5 pick, and that gives Sendek time to recruit more people who want to play with him, and someone that wants to play a similar role.

As a Cat fan, you guys doing THIS well is... well, annoying! wink You guys ground out a win against a reasonably-tough WSU team (a lot of their games have been pretty close), and I have to say, you play pretty dang attractive basketball at the same time. Sometimes, I forget what true PG play looks like because both last year and this year we don't have one (not to say that Lyons isn't clutch as hell, but he's a SG...), but then Jahii comes along and reminds me!

Hey, if you guys keep winning, then maybe we can have another quality win on our resume at the end of the year when we whup you guys in Tucson! That'd be great, huh?

I love how Arizona fans are completely incapable of complimenting effectively.

They just can't help but make it all about themselves.

Well...we'll see about the Tucson part (you're probably right though) but I always appreciate a classy and constructive Cat poster.  The truth is, I'm happy for the relative success of both our programs in both basketball and football.  This last year was the first year since 1997 both our schools made it to a bowl game in the same year.  It's not that I want au to fail, I just want us to always be better than them.  wink

Like we're any different towards UofA (although I'm sure you're the exception to the rule).  There was nothing wrong with his post at all.  Can't blame the guy for wanting his team to win.

It's not that. It's the "oh boy I hope you guys are good so when we beat you we look better" or "oh hopefully you guys get better so teams can't just focus their whole weekend on us" or "good job but we softened them up for you" or "they put their whole focus on us and overlooked you guys".

It's not one post...it's practically every post.

My stated position on Arizona is that they don't matter to ASU any more than anyone else in the conference. 2 games a year, they matter. The rest of the year, what Arizona does doesn't affect Arizona State a bit.
