ASU-UCLA Game Thread
It's a quick turnaround for both teams today but even a little more so for the Sun Devils (15-4, 4-2) as they wrapped things up against SC around 11 on Thursday night and had four players see more than 40 minutes of action in the overtime win. We'll see how much fatigue plays a factor as the game ears on.
UCLA (16-4, 6-1) enters the game as arguably the Pac-12's hottest team, winners of 11 of their last 12 games, and feature one of the premiere freshman classes in all the country. The Bruins are led by none other than Shabazz Muhammed, who after sitting out the team's first few games is averaging 18.2 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.
We should have a nice matchup between guards Jahii Carson and Kyle Anderson, another Bruin freshman, who's averaging 9.8 points and 9.2 rebounds to go along with 3.7 assists per game.
Carson is averaging 20.8 points and 5 assists over the last four games.
The Sun Devils will need big performances from, well, just about everybody but especially Evan Gordon - who has scored in double figures in the last three games - and Carrick Felix, who bounced back from his worst outing of the year against Arizona with a double-double, including zero turnovers, against the Trojans.
Follow along here and on Twitter for updates. The game will be on FSAZ, so all you DirectTV subscribers can watch this one.
Oh yeah, same starting five (20-20) and no Colvin again today.
Let's go Devils!!

Re: ASU-UCLA Game Thread
Take care of the ball. UCLA feasts off turnovers. Jordan Adams is the top thief in the conference and Drew and Anderson are very good at it also. They want to speed the game up and turn you over; they play the fastest tempo in the conference.
Need to make someone other than Anderson or Muhammad prove they can hurt you with their shot. 3 likely starters shooting less than 37% in league play. UCLA also takes the fewest 3's in the conference.
They already had the lowest rebounding percentage in the conference before Wear's injury. D Wear will make them better in offensive rebounding, but not really much different on the defensive glass. Bach should crash and get 2nd shots!
Both teams are very good at taking care of the ball, but only UCLA is good at taking it away. Neither team fouls very much, but both get to the line a lot, so that will be an interesting game within the game!
Should be a good one, good luck Devils!

Actually only Felix and Bach have been that bad in league play, aside from Colvin who I assume is out again. Felix has just been really bad. Carson, Gilling and Gordon are all over 70% and Pateev is 6 for 7 in limited play.

Evan Gordon is still hot, but the Bruins counter with a three.

Nice feed from Gilling to a slashing Felix along the baseline for the up and under. 6-4 Bruins, 16:29.

Pateev with a block on Jordan Adams gets the crowd up on their feet. Sun Devil ball after the break. ASU still leads by one.

Don't know what's gotten into Pateev lately but he's playing much more aggressively. He had been looking aloof out there for so long.
