ASU-Hartford Game Thread 12.5.12
Tonight the Sun Devils play host to the Hartford Hawks as they try to improve to 7-1 for the 5th time in the last 35 years. It's just the 4th 6-1 start for Arizona State in the last 20 years.
This will be the first match-up between the Hawks and Sun Devils.
Carrick Felix has been on a tear for ASU early this season, averaging 16.1 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. For his college career, Felix has posted 20+ points in a game eight times, three of which have occurred this season, all coming within the last four games.
Jahii Carson, who suffered from an illness last week, enters tonight averaging 18 points per game, third most nationally amongst all freshman.
Jordan Bachynski is second in the country averaging 5 blocks per game.
Jonathan Gilling has recently been dubbed as the Danish Dennis for his rebounding prowess through the team's first seven games, averaging 8.6 boards per contest and having already eclipsed his total from last season (54).
ASU has not allowed an opponent to shoot better than 50% from the field this year.
The Sun Devils will feature the same starting line-up tonight as they have all year: Carson, Evan Gordon, Felix, Gilling and Bachynski.

The Hawks are off to a hot start, converting on their first two three points attempts.
Felix and Carson keeping the Sun Devils on pace with them though, tied at 6, 17:16.

Bachynski with the flush down low off the dish from Carson, ASU leads 10-6, 15:38.
Carson and Bachynski each with 4 points.
ASU 5-5 from the field.

Chris Colvin is the first Sun Devil player off the bench tonight, subbing in for Gilling.
Eric Jacobsen in for Bachysnki as well.

Jacobsen immediately hauls in an offensive rebound, picking up where he left off on Saturday with 7 rebounds.

Despite shooting 70% from field, ASU having trouble putting distance between them and Hartford behind sloppy defense and some careless ball handling (four turnovers).
Hawks now leading, 18-17, 10:55.

Evan Gordon knocks down his second 3 point attempt, pulling the Sun Devils within two, 26-24, 8:05.

Hartford still clinging to a slim lead, 28-26, with 4:56 until halftime.

A Carrick Felix three from the wing gives ASU the lead back, 29-28, with just under four minutes remaining in first half.
Felix now with five points to go along with his two assists.
