Ray Rice

Posted: 07/27/2014 2:10 PM

Ray Rice

Got a whole 2 game suspension for knocking his fiance out. Is this a joke? I don't care if she started it. Was he really in fear of his safety? That girl probably weighs 125lbs. A bear hug wouldn't work? The NFL is a joke. I guess in the NFL you are better off hitting a girl than smoking weed. eek1
The thing that makes me sick are the people that say she started by hitting Ray  so she deserved what she got. Don't know about you, but I was always taught to NEVER strike a woman. Ray Rice is a low life.

Re: Ray Rice

Even better, in the same week another NFL player gets a season long suspension for smoking pot while Rice admits to a violent crime and only gets two games.

Re: Ray Rice

Maybe she should have pressed charges.

You don't know the circumstances of the situation. All parties involved are satisfied with the verdict. I always how people feel the need to throw stones.

He's very lucky that he didn't kill her. But, my question to everyone is if this had been a drunk , 150 pound nerd who started punching Rice, would people question the verdict?

You should never hit a woman, but you should judge something that you have no information about.

Re: Ray Rice

Uhhhhh, we know that who he hit and knocked out was a tiny girl.  We know that he received a 2 game suspension and people smoking pot are getting full seasons.  We know that it wasnt a 150lb nerdy kid, we know that Ray Rice is a big dude, we know the majority of the facts.

It doesn't help the NFL one bit, especially when they're trying to appeal to the female audience,I MHO.

Better question, what father walks his daughter down the aisle and turns her over to a guy who just recently physically assaulted her? (they got married shortly after this occured).
No excuses, do the work

Re: Ray Rice

This idea that a man should never hit a woman is precisely why women feel they are allowed to place their hands on a man.  I have two daughters and here's what I tell them relative to fighting, "Don't ever place your hands on another human being that's bigger and tougher than you.  If you do, expect to get your butt kicked.  Above all, act like a lady.  And if a man should ever place his hands on you unprovoked, let Dad know and I'll take care of it."  Ray should have used a different method to control his girlfriend, such as bear hugging her or controlling her arms.  But don't kid yourself, there are many women who won't hesitate to start whaling on a man's face.  Have you ever seen a woman go ballistic on a man in public and he is forced to just stand there and take it?  Think about that for a second.  That's the only circumstance under which a man isn't allowed to defend himself.

It's pretty simple:  Don't place your hands on someone you shouldn't, man or woman.

Re: Ray Rice

Ideally, Ray should have handled the situation like Jay Z handled Beyoncé's sister in almost an identical situation.  Watch the YouTube video and you'll see that she went crazy on him and he pushed her away multiple times until his body guard intervened.

What I find shocking is that a 115lb woman feels that she can start throwing punches at Jay Z, a man twice her size.  What type of women is America producing nowadays?  Unbelievable that so many feel they can place their hands on a person who can knock them out cold in less than 5 seconds.  It would be akin to me walking up to Cain Velasquez talking smack, I decide to start throwing punches, I connect with a few, and society expects him to just stand there because I'm half his size.  eek1eek1eek1

A father who knows if Ray is not playing he won't get paid so she drops the charges so he gets paid and she gets taken care of, it's a sick world and I'm against man vs women violence but she's an idiot and is in it for the money and lifestyle.

Re: Ray Rice

Damn, VA, I didn't even think about that situation!  How any family member could walk her down the aisle with Ray's now wife after he knocked her out cold is unconscionable and unforgivable!  And we wonder why professional, wealthy athletes believe they can buy their way out of anything.

what do you mean no information? we know he knocked her out and then dragged her around a hotel. Is that not enough info? Do we need more info to know Ray Rice is a loser? Ray is a big guy and could have subdued her many ways without knocking her out. I'll keep casting stones at losers like Ray and you keep defending the low lifes.

Re: Ray Rice

Sndvin8tion,

I think what Walter is trying to convey is that we don't know if Ray's wife was whaling on him and just reacted instinctively to his body being attacked.  Hypothetically, what if they were arguing as they entered that elevator.  Ray then pulls out his phone, starts texting a friend, and takes his eyes off his wife.  Suddenly, he's sucker punched to the face or kicked in the nuts and the attack continues after his initial attempts to calm her down failed.  Now, no one is condoning the method he took to control her and situation, but it's very possible that she initiated and precipitated the physical confrontation.  And perhaps her behavior was so egregious that Goddell felt Ray was within reason to defend himself.

Look, I've seen women light guys up in public and get very physical.  We can't expect every man to handle himself calmly when another human being is punching, clawing, scratching, and/or kicking him.  Ray should have never punched her, but none of us really know the extent and degree of his wife's attack.  Goddell saw the film and gave him two games, which indicates that he felt Ray was to a degree justified in his reaction to his wife's behavior.  Hell, as far as we know she threatened to pull out a knife and kill him.  If/until we see the full video, it's unfair to solely judge Ray.
