He said in a Tweet, and no I don't have Twitter, that college football is a business and he has to do what's right for his family. Not sure exactly how this helps him

Hmm, college football is a business...  transferring to an SEC school?        I kid.

Was he getting buried in the depth chart? Good luck to him, wherever he lands.

The article mentioned he was expected to start. Having used his redshirt season already I don't get how transferring helps him in a business way.

There's more to this story. He would have played this year, maybe not started but played for sure. Now he has to go somewhere and sit for another year. Just doesn't add up.

Re: Wadood

This is a weird one. He was on twitter thanking fans and saying that he'll always love the Sun Devil Brotherhood. So it doesn't sound like hard feelings. He would have played...despite his injuries he was coming in with experience which we don't have much of at CB. Can't imagine it being playing time related. Good luck to him regardless. It definitely makes for an interesting spring for CB and our D. We'll have even more folks talking about our suspect experience on the D Side and we need to find a second starter opposite Carrington and some depth.

Re: Wadood

I don't know how anyone thinks that it is playing time related, who was in front of him?  Carrington and a jc transfer who hasn't stepped on the field yet? Means?   Also I really hope Carrington steps up his game from last year, he was toast last season when he was on the field.

Regardless it doesn't make sense for a junior to transfer unless it is to a lower division school.  I know the article said he was a soph. but he came in in 2011 and played,  then redshirted in 2012 and then played last year (2013) which was his soph. year.

It sucks that he is leaving.

Re: Wadood

We are definitely vulnerable in the secondary, and in a pass happy conference where most teams are returning their QB's, this does not bode well for our defense.  I will predict that our young DB's will grow to become the most feared unit in the conference in a couple of years.  For now though, they will pay the price to get there.  Randall will need to have a big year for us, and he is very capable of doing just that.

Re: Wadood

I believe Brown, Carrington, Means, and Earley were expected to fill the starting and backup CB positions. Wadood would be competing for third string. Don't forget, he also had some injuries that I'm not sure he every truly recovered from. Good luck to him wherever he goes and whatever path he chooses to follow. Forks up.

I've always thought he will be buried in the depth chart. We've got new guys coming that should surpass him.

Checking his twitter, very positive about ASU in every way!
No hint if he is transferring let alone where, joked about buying a shrimp boat!
My best guess is it's an injury retirement.

Have heard that he is retiring from football.

I have no idea if he will be finishing his degree at ASU or not.

Re: Wadood

kinda odd that most of the posts on here are about him not being productive next year or being buried on the depth chart.  Is that all you are worried about?

It's kinda odd that a Bruin posts in thread about an ASU player and *doesn't* talk exclusively about the UCLA team.  What happened?  Must not be a real Bruin.

The information that comes out at first is that he is transferring.  ASU fans discuss the situation, but the information that is available on the free board is incomplete.  As people discuss the Wadood situation, it is couched in football terms, as that is the reason for a majority of transfers and is the info available at the time.

Additional information starts to come out, but it, too, appears to be incomplete.  We do not know the full reason for him leaving the team, but the first official report was that he was transferring and implied it was for football reasons.  Conflicting reports come out, and are discussed a bit.

Then you chime in.  Leave it to a Bruin to feign outrage and essentially claim to be the only one who cares about the young man for something other than his role on a football team.

To answer our question, no, it's not all I am worried about.  Amongst various "worries" I am worried that with the loss of a defensive back and the hit to our numbers in the secondary, Priest Willis will want to transfer to ASU.  He is great for ASU right where he is.

umm, not really, there were a few posts about him being buried in the depth chart after the other info came out with this post:

willis is a classic example of having too many opening at certain positions(we replaced all 4 starters of our Defensive backs) and having to play true Fr, especially one that had clearing house issues and instead of enrolling in summer and getting ready, he enrolled in fall and could not start camp with everyone else.

oh mike you used to be a good UCLA fan, but now you are just troll. Are your feelings that easily hurt?
It's called speculation. People are wondering why he left when it looked like he had a chance to be a major contributor. Hopefully everything is ok in this mans life and is just looking for a fresh start.
