Yet another reason by ASU is better than AU

Arizona State announced a home-and-home agreement with Michigan State, in addition to past announcements with Louisiana State and BYU

Meanwhile, AU signed a home-and-home with Mississippi State ...

The money quote:

This goes along with ASU's longtime philosophy of scheduling one game against a Top 30 non-conference opponent, one against an opponent with regional ties and another against a lower-division school. Nearly every Pac-12 school has followed a similar model with the exception of Arizona, which doesn't have a non-conference game scheduled against a Power 5 conference school through 2020. (The Wildcats still could fill open slots with such teams. News also broke Thursday that the Wildcats have reached an agreement with Mississippi State for a home-and-home series starting in 2022.)

have to give them credit on that point.  Of course, the first game of this series isn't for another 8 seasons.....
How do I become a nonconformist like everyone else?

Mississippi State?  Holy cow!  They actually scheduled a team from a BCS conference?  eek  Of course MSU usually sucks, but they'll beat them and then brag about how they're "SEC Killers"  banghead

Miss State is a great OOC opponent because it's a decent SEC program but most Pac-12 schools have a shot at beating them.

Every year Mississippi State plays three cream puffs then a lower tiered SEC school like Vanderbilt.  Starts off 4-0 and a lot of hype until they play a school like Bama or A&M then get shellacked, but then plays another OOC cream puff until finally they get bowl eligible at 6-6 and go on to play Eastern Kentucky State in the Overstock.com Bowl or some other such to go 7-6.

So you are saying they haven't changed their scheduling philosophy for 2022  biggrin

Can you really blame them?  Stoopid basically ruined Willie T letting him get continually pummeled vs. LSU after getting concussed early.....er "dehydrated".

Maybe au will make the mistake of dancing on the giant "M-State" logo at mid field like they did on the Tiger Eye in Death Valley.

Im glad they picked MSU.

That still leaves ASU the chance to play Ole Miss.

Would love to take a road trip to Oxford. Supposed to be one of the best Gameday spots in the country

You didn't see that? It was before the game, when the Wildcats entered and took the field. Instead of going to their benches on the sidelines, they made it a point to run over to the Tiger Eye logo (comparable to Sparky logo, apparently) and stomp all over it. It was your typical trash move by those guys.

They tried something similar in Tempe after the game when they beat us, which led to a brief scuffle between players, helmets swung, etc.

Exactly!  Death Valley is also considered one of the most revered venues in college football and these ass-clowns came in and just started dancing on their logo showing LSU absolutely zero respect.  Well, they went on to get pasted 56-3 in that game.  The moral of the story is, when you go near a huge hornets' nest you respect it.  You don't chop it down, pour gasoline on it, light it on fire, and then put it with your own whiz stream.  The latter is pretty much what au tried to do and they paid the price for it.  I'd love to see them try that again in Starkville.

I wasn't a big fan in those days mostly because we were terrible, but one of my favorite moments was after Shaq deflected the pass and we won the game in Tempe then we got the Arizona flag and planted it midfield. cool
on the sparky logo.

Stay classy, Arizona!

I think you are remebering the 2011 game, Erickson's last season. I either didn't realize or have since forgotten about that display of sportsmanship.

The post-game brawl I recall may have been 2 years before that, at home, after a day game. The game Kyle Williams muffs the punt return? Or maybe it was a classy Mackovic team, before that. It was after a day game, for sure, and the UA players ran to a Sparky logo on the southwest quadrant of the field and began to stomp and try to scratch it out with their cleats. The Devils ran over and one guy went ape, trying to club one of your classy players with his helmet.
