BYU AD says no conference has offered BYU membership

@RiseAndShoutOut

@TomHolmoe I'm confused about BYU's direction. Does BYU prefer Independence over #Big12 membership? Fans don't know BYU's ultimate goal.

@RiseAndShoutOut Listen carefully- There...has...been...no...offer, thus we strive for great success as independent in football.

Holmoe?  Wasn't he a terrible coach up at Cal many years back?

Yes he was!  I noticed that too.  That guy was a pathetic coach.  I wish he was still at Cal...or au.

Wow, I didn't know Holmoe was BYU's AD. This explains a lot... Like how BYU football has become totally irrelevant.

Do they get more money as an independent or in the big12?  If the big12 comes calling they should ump on it.

The Big-XII would be a good fit for them.  When they play Baylor they can dub it "The Holy War".  LOL!!  In all seriousness though, they'd be a good fit for the conference.  I'm still upset that the Pac didn't make a play for them instead of Colorado, but that's just my opinion.

Why would you want BYU in the PAC12 over Colorado?  What does BYU offer that Colorado does not?

The PAC12 chose  2 state universities, schools that attract theTV markets in Denver and Salt Lake City.Philosophically speaking,why add a private school?

My reason was because they traditionally have had good sports across the spectrum and are a natural rival of Utah.  Up until we got Colorado, we had nothing but natural rivalries (i.e. two AZ schools, two SoCal schools, etc, etc)  Its not to say that Colorado was a horrible choice, especially for the reasons you gave, its just hard to take them seriously these days.  For now, other than TV coverage, I don't think they add much to the conference.  I think BY-Who would've added more competition.

That's right.  That's where I've heard that.  Although I still don't understand it, at least not on BC's part.  Were they formerly a religious institution?  If so I wasn't aware of it.

Still is. It's a Jesuit Catholic school. They tend not to use overtly religious names. Apparently Creighton is too, didn't know that.

That's cool.  I honestly didn't know that.  Granted I don't follow a lot of teams in the northeast, but I honestly can say I learned something new today.  That now makes perfect sense.

I'm not sure the TV coverage argument holds up either.  Colorado gives you access to the Denver market.  BYU gives you many many TV screens in many many places.

BYU is very attractive to any conference, they have there own t.v. Network and they have A huge following as the LDS university. They provide you A international fanbase and market. They also have been very good in Football & Hoops. BYU & Cincy are my bet for big12 expansion as Cincy gets them the fruitfull Ohio recruiting grounds.

I'm pro BYU!  They are quite marketable and bring television sets world wide.  The Sunday thing s overstated.  When the heck do we ever play on Sunday.  Their upside outweighs the minimal drawbacks.  They are also in our region of the country and are an old rival..
