Hey, UCLA fans, what's up with all those "soft verbals
..... this late in the recruiting season ? Your site lists as many as 5 today. It actually should be 6 if you count Lacy still taking visits.

It means recruits are taking free visits. Thank you for noticing. :-)

RE: Hey, UCLA fans, what's up with all those "soft
enk- Why troll them onto a thread? They're on this board enough already.
btw, they are kicking our butts in recruiting right now. So a few of their commits want free trips and may/may not flip? Big deal.

Yeah lets tone down the hostilities. Fact is we should have a great class and so should ASU. If a guy or two flips, big deal.

Re: Hey, UCLA fans, what's up with all those "soft verbals
Why, did you flip Kenny Lacy on his official visit this weekend? Seriously, I am not worried about UCLA's class one bit. Feel very confident it will be at least a Top 10 class. If things break right, it could be a Top 5 class. Recruiting will be just fine for UCLA this year.

Re: Hey, UCLA fans, what's up with all those "soft verbals
I don't think UCLA has anything to worry about and truth is.. Recruits have to see the bigger picture which means validating their decision and finding the best fit to get to the next level. ASU has put it's fair share of prospects into the NFL so maybe we can steal a couple guys or maybe not. It's not a mystery that many recruits take visits for fun even when they are 100% committed. UCLA will always recruit well but it's a tough pill to swallow when they take some of the best kids from Phoenix. CTG is doing his best to stop this and we gave them quite the game this year without our best player on defense. I think these teams are pretty close in talent as it is.

They aren't as soft as UCLA's defense!
Baylor just scored again.

If I had a nickel every time I've seen and ASU fan post that sorry excuse about missing sutton I'd be rich right now.. We were missing key guys as well and were truly worried about going on the road but that's what depth is for young or not the game goes on. Lets not forget you spotted you 14 points and gave you two kick offs, and no the talent on both teams are not equal or even close.

What part of my post was not factual. I did not make an excuse-I stated a fact. Sutton is regarded as our best player and I think he could have helped our defense that day.. Injuries are part of it though so go away troll! bruins75 wrote: If I had a nickel every time I've seen and ASU fan post that sorry excuse about missing sutton I'd be rich right now.. Re: Hey, UCLA fans, what's up with all those "soft verbals
Sutton out absolutely made a difference, it's foolish to say otherwise. But would it not also be foolish to ignore the fact that our defensive captain was also out, and that we lost a potential score and gave you a FG by kicking off both halves? Not trolling, just trying to discuss that game. smoooothdevil wrote: What part of my post was not factual. I did not make an excuse-I stated a fact. Your field goal argument cuz of your coaches mistake is not relavent. What if you went 3 and out to start the half? All this could be argued forever but bottom line is you won on a last second FG. Just be happy you won

It was a mistake on the officials' part -- one that the conference said that they'd adjust on their end so that it doesn't happen again. But you're right, we could've gone three and out, or scored a TD, we'll never know. It typically never helps, though, to give the ball up to start both halves.

--------------------------------------------- If the talent is not even close than you guys should probably fire Jim Mora because that means Coach Graham is just that much better than him to only lose by a last second field goal.

Re: Hey, UCLA fans, what's up with all those "soft verbals
just curious what you consider rich? even if you saw 1000 posts about sutton being hurt that will only net you $50. just sayin....
however then you go into this "ucla spotted asu 14 points". what about the points ASU gave UCLA? you do remember those, right? the 7 points right before half?
you can say the talent levels are not close betweeen the 2 teams, but the results don't show that. ASU and UCLA have played 2 very close games the last 2 years. I imagine it to be the same this year. So either the talent levels are close or UCLA just has really crappy coaches. I mean with such a talent gap shouldn't ucla be able to roll the entire pac 12? I mean no way a team with that much talent would lose to Cal, barely beat ASU and get rolled by Baylor, right?

Re: Hey, UCLA fans, what's up with all those "soft verbals
What did they ever say was the deal with that? I assume UCLA won the toss and elected to defer. Did one of UCLA's captains come out at half than and say they wanted to punt? Or did ASU win the toss and deferred, and then UCLA chose to kick off. Never got the details on that. Happened once in a ASU/UA game. Re: Hey, UCLA fans, what's up with all those "soft verbals
UCLA captains were late coming out of the tunnel. The punter was the only guy on the field (maybe the other kickers) and the ref had him stand there for the toss. I was at the game and this is what happened. UCLA won the toss. Punter said they would kick. What he meant to say was that they would defer. So UCLA won the coin toss and decided to kick off. Since UCLA won the toss and did not defer, ASU got to choose to start the 2nd half. We opted to receive.
So its not the officials fault. It was the punter's fault for incorrectly electing to kick, and not defer. But mostly blame should be lon with Mora for not getting his captains onto the field for the coin toss

I was at the game as well. After the game the P12 issued an apology to UCLA saying it was on the officials. Rules will be changed so that it doesn't happen again.
