RE: Best NFL Franchise in Super Bowl era
Even though it pains me to do this... I had to go with the Cowboys, even despite the fact they've been mediocre (at best) for the entire Tony Romo-era.
When I was a kid-- those teams with Aikman, Emmitt Smith, Michael Irvin, Jay Novachek, Daryl Johnston, Alvin Harper, and Deion were really something, not to mention Leon Lett and Nate Newton.
Also, I give them extra points for any team with Leon Lett since he was arrested while transporting over 200 lbs of marijuana.

I would go by more than just Super Bowl W-L records... when you consider that the Super Bowl era is from 1967-2012, I would look at which teams have been the most consistent and have won the most over the longest stretch of years. For example, Green Bay was great at the very beginning of that period but it took them almost 30 years to become relevant again.

An opininion is an opinion, unless you are Bskitt, in which case an opinion becomes a FACT.

How could anyone not pick the Niners? They were dominate from '81-'97 with 5 Superbowl championships and 0 losses. After they clobber the Ravens Sunday they'll be 6-0 in Superbowls with 3 QB's.
No brainer.

I voted 49ers but gave Pittsburgh serious consideration. They have remained relevant from 1972 through today, winning consistently over multiple decades with no long absenses along with the 6 SB wins.

Richard, the Steelers first 4 Superbowl championships were won because of roids and the last 2 have been with a combo of roids and a rapist. I wouldn't even include them in the poll.

How can you not pick Pittsburgh. How many times have they had a losing record in the last 40 years?

How are the Giants even on this list? They have only been to 4 SB's ever. a bunch of those other years in between they have been mediocre at best.

Re: Best NFL Franchise in Super Bowl era
These are all the SB teams with 4 SB's or more. Giants are there. And also in the article that I linked that was the basis for this.

FriarJ wrote: How can you not pick Pittsburgh. How many times have they had a losing record in the last 40 years? The writers argument is entirely Super Bowl based - SF is 5 for 5, unblemished. Pittsburgh is 6 for 8.

Re: Best NFL Franchise in Super Bowl era
I just don't see how anyone could vote for the Giants. Irrelevant from 1967-1990 and since then, spotty in comparison to 49ers or Steelers or Cowboys who maintained peak performance.
