Momentum Killing Loss
That certainly changes the outlook on the season. Quite frankly, it puts a damper on the outlook for next season too.
Not a good job by the players and staff.

RE: Momentum Killing Loss
Batts needs help inside. From the moment he picked up his second foul, BC/Anderson just kept attacking the inside - scoring and drawing fouls until Batts was sent packing.
It seems we got killed on the boards the rest of the way

Re: Momentum Killing Loss
Really sux for this year but it doesn't hurt next year. This was this groups first road game and they are still without their best player. We obviously aren't as good as we thought 24 hours ago but we aren't as bad as we played today either.

I don't think this loss puts a damper on next season at all. Plenty of new talent coming in. On the other hand it looks like Goldy and Kofane will still be there.

Wish we could have done the same when Anderson picked up 2 early fouls. Batts tried and was battling down low as was Sidki when he was in. Don't know what is up with Bucketts but we would have been much better off if he was attacking down low instead of floating.

This loss sucks, but we can't lose sight of the fact that this was only Dunn's second college game ever and first road game. He'll only get better. My expectations for this year are coming back to reality after today, but still pumped for the future.

Next year will be fine, but I would like to see them schedule more road games. They really seem to have issues away from the dunk.

I wouldn't say it puts a damper on next season, but I'm much less optimistic about what we can do in the BE this season now.

Yep. I was starting to think an NCAA run was a possibility. The fact that coach has more confidence in Kofane than Sidiki is not a good thing. Bad loss. We aren't all that much better than BC, but we still have to win games like that...

Right because Vincent Council is way worse than Ted Bancroft

Re: Momentum Killing Loss
Whaaat??? A damper on next year?
This loss sucks now/today, but not towards next year.
My observations off of today:
1. Bryce Cotton is really good. 2. LaDontae Henton is not the same player he was last year (up to this point). 3. Only 2 games in and it seems as if Kris Dunn is strictly a distributor on offense. I don't see much of a shot or a knack for scoring the ball. 4. Sidiki Johnson doesn't play enough. 5. Mr. Goldsbrough is not a Big East player.
Oh well, merry Christmas to Santa Cooley and all Friar fans!! --------------------------------------------- --- WindyCityFriar wrote:

RE: Momentum Killing Loss
This has no effect on next year's prospects for me at all. Austin, Ledo, and Harris will provide the length and athleticism to guard players like Ryan Anderson and give them a more effective offense on the wing. Even Bullock would be a much needed asset against forwards we lack still. Sidiki hopefully still working off the rust and he'll need to prove to Cooley he can be a valuable contributor. Tough loss but no game on the road should be penciled in right now.

RE: Momentum Killing Loss
Stinks, but not discouraged long-term. Was at the game and totally mystified why Kofane was in there at the end instead of Sidiki. Neither had a great shot at defending Anderson but at least Johnson can catch the ball and hit the boards.
Henton's poor play, whatever the reason, was a killer. Batts picked up some cheap fouls but overall was a zero in the second half as well.
Cotton was superb, Fortune played well for a frosh, and Dunn was up and down. Can't win many games when two of the team's best healthy players check out for the entire second half.

RE: Momentum Killing Loss
Unfortunately all this loss does is put things into perspective. BC isn't a good team at all and they beat us. The friars have been benefiting from a soft schedule and this game just shows we aren't as good as our record.
The good news is we are 8-3 still when we could be much worse off with all the injuries.
We knew it be a long year and this is just a bump in the road

Re: Momentum Killing Loss
I think its more of a reality check loss. This team as currently constituted is an NIT team at its best. We got excited but that was because we were watching the Friars play inferior teams at home.
It remains to be seen what impact Council will have so there is reason to stay optimistic.
