Anyone catch Aikmans comment toward the end of the game.

Anyone catch Aikmans comment toward the end of the game.

When he said that he wasn't too sure that Favre ever wanted to come back to Green Bay!  That's at least how I have always felt about this situation, and why I now just look at Favre as a two faced loser who does not deserve to ever be welcomed back to Green Bay.  Financial considerations and jersey sales be damned.

As if Aikman knows anything about Brett's personal life.  Let Brett do what he wants.  Everyone in GB should be happy, they now have Rodgers.

No offense, but why should we care why he left?  If TT gets fired, the Favre situation would have hurt his popularity but was a non-event from a football standpoint.  GB is fine at the QB spot.

If TT gets fired, it will be because he hired McCarthy, the OL blows, the D doesn't get to the QB, and he blew too many #1 picks.

Favre has given the most to GB since I've been born, I'm not about to trash him.

Wish I could say the same for TT and MM.

Favre was forced out by Thompson BEFORE the retirement press conference. Then, when he realized hw still wanted to play, he did all he could to come back, culminating in a Thompson-Favre screaming match at Favre's house at which Deanna had to intervene to keep it from coming to blows. Yeah, Aikman knows what he is talking about. I know how this went down and I am a huge Packers fan but the truth is a bit different and I do not blame Favre one bit for his desire at revenge.

It shouldn't shock anyone Favre wanted out.  He didn't want to play for a GM that's not committed to go after the Super Bowl.  If I were in his shoes, I'd do the exact samething.

PS - All you fans that were classless and booed the hell out of Favre today, I hope you enjoyed it when he kicked your ass and made you look like fools.

It sounds like you have inside knowledge -- were you there?  If not, then you, like everyone else, is relying on no better than second hand knowledge.  There is plenty of reason for those who were there (on both sides)_to spin events, so there is no way to know what the truth is.  As to  what to believe, I prefer to rely on logic.

It made no sense whatsoever for  TT to force Favre out immediately following the 2007 season.  It made all the sense in the world for TT to choose Rodger once he was forced to make that choice.

I was not there but my sources are as good as it gets. Thompson decided to dump Favre because he determined, in short form, that Favre could not play in cold weather. He concluded Favre was affected by age in colld weather (playoff time) and he believed Favre's skills were in overall decline. Bob McGinn knows all of this but he can't print it because he would be cut out of the information pipeline. It all started when Favre called Thompson to talk about the upcoming draft.

This is the first time I've heard this.  Thanks for posting this.

Well Gato------put yourself in TT's position----he comes here and he finds his Qb hasn't been treated like everyone else----given perk after perk by Sherman------then he throws 29 interceptions his first year with TT in 2006 by going long----the next year they read the riot act to Favre to stay in the short passing game, which he does until the NFC championship game against the Giants when he throws the ball up for grabs when he didn't have to and GB is out of the Super Bowl----also BF demonstrates he can no longer play in cold weather----then too every spring/summer he has to go through this ":will he or won't he" BS----and fianlly and most importantly he has a QB with 12 years ahead of him who is just as good a QB as Favre who he will lose if BF stays beyond his skill set..

What would you do?

Gato - Mcginn published that at the time about Packer brass thinking that Favres skills dimininshing and not being able to play in the cold.  That is nothing earth shattering.  I don't buy for a second that TT forced Favre to retire.

I would agree with most of your analysis Murf except the Giants game. Al Harris was abused, ABUSED by Plaxico Burris and the Giants running game killed the Pack. Favre needed to make plays which resulted in Favre-like mistakes but he was not responsible for the loss. Other than that, Ted Thompson looked at it just like you do. Of course, I think he should be fired. Finally, if you are hinting at the Favre locker situation, I think that all goes back to Holmgren when they moved Favre out of the regular locker room to keep the press off his back.

I agree most of what I said is in the public domain. You doubt the balance of my assertions and that is your prerogative. I can honestly tell you I know what I am talking about.

Re: Anyone catch Aikmans comment toward the end of the game.

Gato-----TT has done a good job-----he picked Rodgers and acquired Woodsen----now has Mathews a future all pro-----I liked the way he handled Favre (no one can be bigger than the ball club----and BF has learned a lesson----much more disciplined with Vikes that at any point since Holmgren)-----GB did NOT lose today because of Favre-----they lost because of giving up huge field position on kick offs-----stupid penalties (Jolly giving up 7 points)-----and persistent poor protection for Rodgers.

MM is the one that has to go----his game plan was lousy----fire MM and hirer Gruden!

BTW----If true that Holmgren gave perks to Favre he did BF and GB a disservice.

What Would I Do?

I'd go out and surround my HOF QB with pieces that give the Packers a chance to win the Super Bowl.  There was a lot in place already.  TT didn't have to do much.

BTW you claim, fianlly and most importantly TT has a QB with 12 years ahead of him who is just as good a QB as Favre.  Please, A Rodge may turn out to be alright but to call him as good as Favre is just WRONG.

Re: Anyone catch Aikmans comment toward the end of the game.

If anyone has to go it's TT.   Throws "prayer picks" at our o line for 5 years, now MM has to deal with this disaster of an offensive line.

Thompson can't even adequately replace our two aging tackles in five year's time.   His d assemblage ain't anything to write home about either.

Re: Anyone catch Aikmans comment toward the end of the game.

I believe that you and others were told this -- perhaps even by people who were present -- but unless all involved say it happened (and NONE have said so publicly) it's still spin.

Bill Clinton told his wife and the entire nation that "he did not have sex with that woman" -- very good source, don't you think?  It just wasn't true.

Let's check the logic on this one:

Thompson decides that Favre can’t play in cold weather.  Based on two games?  Bears and Giants.  Somehow, he concludes that the Packers would be better off with an unproven Aaron Rodgers so he forces Favre out?  Doesn’t make a lot of sense to me.  But let’s go further – TT then gets Favre himself to play along with the conspiracy to force Favre out?

That just doesn’t make sense.

The key to recognizing the spin here is “forced out” – that may well have been how Favre felt, but it is not reality.  Favfre may have felt that he had no choice but to retire if Ted Thompson wouldn’t dance for him like Sherman did – but that is not being “forced out.”

Culbert----I'm sure you understand that BF has much better support than AR-----yet I didn;t see a great deal of difference in their production today (or for the season for that matter)-----I mean Fave  hardly got touched the whole game and had much better field position all day due to great kick returns.

Favre hardly ever got touched when he was in GB too.   Funny how that worked.  In his two years with MM Favre got sacked an avg of 18 times a year.

What?  Rodgers has already taken over 30 eek sacks this year.   Not all his fault but quite a few.
