SCC Final Week (#12)

SCC Final Week (#12)

SCC 3A/4A Standings

Porter Ridge.....7-3, 3-1
Marvin Ridge....8-2, 2-2

Anson................6-4, 2-2
Sun Valley.........7-3, 2-2

Weddington......5-5, 2-2
Parkwood..........4-6, 1-3

Porter Ridge  Sun Valley .......................................Sun Valley

Parkwood  @ Anson County.......................................Anson County

Weddington  Marvin Ridge ...................................Marvin Ridge

Well, if I go 3-0 this week, I can get over .500.  As it is, I am 5-7.  What a conference.   Two huge rivalry games this week, and the Parkwood/Anson, a game which I am sure Anson is looking to exact some revenge from last year.  Should be fun.

Sun Valley 7
Anson 21
Weddington 3

SV-PR should go to SV, after seeing PR, I think SV should be able to score on them easily, dont know if they can stop the Pistol formation though. WOnder if PR will start the QB that beat Anson, or the one that originally started.

Anson SHOULD win big, we will find out.

I hope Weddingotn wins. They are the best team IMO in the conference other than Anson ( with a turnover free game). Just put a person on Sunseri and their offfense should be able to score. I think that they can stop MR offense as well.

Really?  After what Sun Valley did to them on their home field?

IMO, really. I did not see that game, so I dont know what happened. Thats my opinion based on games that I have seen personally. PR and MR beat Anson, and I still think hands down we are the best team in the conference, but our 2 losses would not show that.

Anson has the best talent in the conference no doubt. It's kind of hard to make the statement "best team".

True. I guess we will find out the "best" maybe through play-offs.

No doubt. Just to clarify. Not knocking Anson, just can't say that you are the best team anymore than Sun Valley, Marvin Ridge, or Weddington can. We all have two losses, and we all feel like we should have won the two we lost. As it is, at the moment, we are all looking up at Porter Ridge.

Dang skippy.  BTW, I think SV pulls out the win this week and makes it a 4 way tie for the conference.

RE: SCC Final Week (#12)

True. But going against a previous statement of mine, with potential being evaluated only, you have to give the nod to Anson I think. In a turnover free game, I like Anson with a 2 TD win atleast against any team in the SCC. Ifs get me nowhere though. The SCC has to be the most competitive conference, though I think Anson should be the front runner, its hard for me to determine an accurate 2-5. Maybe all the SCC teams should just make the play-offs a SCC play-off lol.

But, for the sake of arguing. Lets do this...

QB- SV,A,PR(#5),Wedd,MR
RB-A,MR,Wedd,SV,PR
O-Line-A,Wedd,MR,SV,PR (mainly a guess, other than thinking Anson has the best.)
D-Line-Wedd,SV,A,MR,PR
LB-A,MR,SV,Wedd,PR
CB/S-Wedd,MR,SV,PR,A

Weddinghton vs Marvin Ridge...  They should call this game the Walmart bowl....Cause both communities have blocked Walmart...from building new stores in the area.  I hope the games ends in a 0 to 0 tie and both communities r forced to live with a new walmart and Macdonalds.

Actually, if I may disagree, the only thing that matters is who is left last. In my opinion that will be the team thats best in the conference, Darwinism at its finest haha.

Who would have thought we'd have a "Darwinism" reference on these boards?  Perhaps we're all just a bit more intelligent than the rest of us would like to believe, or we're just trying too hard...cool

Porter Ridge  @  Sun Valley .......................................Sun Valley

Great win for Porter Ridge last week.  This is the game that could upset some apple carts.  PR after a great turnaround is having a fantastic season and sits atop a very competitive conference in 2009.  To be honest, even the teams near the bottom have a few quality wins and can beat anyone on any given day.  So that makes for some excitement.  Sun Valley has seems to get over whatever problems they had earlier on in winning a conference game.  They are at home and want to try to take first place in the conference.  It will be a well fought game, but the Spartans come out on top due to superior talent where it counts.  the skinny:  Sun Valley Spartans 30 Porter Ridge Pirates 20

Parkwood  @ Anson County.......................................Anson County

Anson County has been having trouble lately, but still manages to find themselves in good position to make the playoffs.  A win would put a lot of pressure on the teams above them and this conference may just have a ton of teams in the playoffs.  Parkwood and SV are in regardless of this week.  MR is also in   A win here and this conference could end up sending four quality teams to the playoffs.  Porter Ridge can be scary in the playoffs.  Anson has some holes they need to work on.  They will be dangerous next year with some playoff experience this year.  Parkwood played solidly this year, but end on the road facing a team that is hungry for a good performance, well the Bearcats deliver and deliver in  probably their most important game of the season.  The skinny:   Anson County Bearcats 34 Parkwood Rebels (?) 10

Weddington  @  Marvin Ridge ...................................Marvin Ridge

Marvin Ridge at home, coming off an embarassing peformance.  I would not want to be Weddington right about now.  They are in a tight battle for playoff positioning at home.  They will win by 2-3 scores.  The skinny:  Marvin Ridge Mavs 33 Weddington Warriors 17

Anson and Parkwood aren't rivals. There's no bad blood between the two. Anson may win but it will be close.
How about those Bearcats.........

Re: SCC Final Week (#12)

Porter Ridge over Sun Valley  --> 44-42  - shootout

Marvin Ridge over Weddington  --> 28-27  - Weddington scores and goes for 2, Sunseri on the tackle

Parkwood over Anson  --> 21-20   - turnovers prove costly
