RE: Young Football Teams (4 votes)
Valencia only has 8 Seniors and is starting 5 sophmores so I would say we qualify as a very young football team......We will return 7 starters on offense and 8 starters on defense next season.

Re: Young Football Teams (2 votes)
Cleveland storm is basically a jv team, no seniors, and really only a handful of quality juniors, St Pius is young, Belen is young, best players on Belen at juniors and great group of sophomores coming. Del Norte is young.

RE: Young Football Teams (2 votes)
I agree Del Norte and St. Pius X are young, but they are both losing some REALLY GOOD football players that will be hard to replace.

Re: Young Football Teams (2 votes)
Yes, Cleveland is very very young. They are gonna be tough to beat next year and with Coach Potter in charge will be consistently tough to beat. Del Norte does lose some key guys but will return a very hard nosed and talented kid in Blocker(So. right now). They find a way to be solid every year. Pius has skill for days in the program right now. I mean they really could rival anyone in the entire state when it comes to skill guys 9-12. They need some OL/DL to step up for depth. Belen will lose some key guys but return a few really good OL/DL and of course Barba and Jaramillo. Lets see how these younger teams do in the coming weeks! Could be very telling not only for the playoff picture but in regards to next year.

JBACA, I agree, in fact Belen may lose some key guys but those Juniors and Sophomores coming back, so it will be a darn good team coming up.

Re: Young Football Teams (2 votes)
The Juniors were very good in youth football, they won some games but got really impressive in 7th grade, with the exception of some issues that year, they shouldve gone far. The sophomores won a lot of championships in youth ball, lets not forget THEY will be Juniors next year supporting a stud class of soon to be seniors. My guess is that a pipeline has been building and Belen will now be a powerhouse for quite a few years, AND since it will draw in talent from track, basketball, we could see a perenial team rise up right before our eyes. It is like a self fullfilled prophecy.

Re: Young Football Teams (2 votes)
Piedra Vista was very young this year. 8 Sophs starting on the offensive side of the ball and 6 sophs starting on the defensive side of the ball. Will only lose 4 seniors who saw any significant playing time. Offensively, entire skill positions will be back. Should return to a quality and very competitive team next year, like in years past.

RE: Young Football Teams (2 votes)
Saw the Silver/Valencia Playoff Game and both teams started several Soph. Most of Valencia's best players return. Most of Silver's will graduate.

Re: Young Football Teams (2 votes)
Scary as it is Artesia is kinda young this year. A few of their best players are underclassmen: Houghtaling, Caton, Lopez etc...

Re: Young Football Teams (1 vote)
I have never known a Belen team to be (and I'm not being negative) bad. In my years around football Belen has always had athletic kids. But I'm curious, how did Belens JV team do this year. We (Deming JV) played them the first game of the season? They were BIG and ran that option well. Our kids came off the field limping at the end.

Thats not possible. Demings JV beat them 20-12. Just curious how they faired. They were good.

Re: Young Football Teams (1 vote)
Im not sure what their JV was like this last year, but I do know that their Freshmen squad a year ago was not good by any means. You would think a majority of them now make up the JV. Belen does always have solid athletes. They are at a place right now, where they have an obscene amount of good athletes and also have kids buying into what their coaches are doing.
