Rand Paul detained by the TSA

For refusing a full body pat down...

Hopefully this brings enough negative attention that something can be done to end the TSA

But we have to have the TSA to protect of from terrorist threats. We have to have the government protect us.

Didn't all of this mess come about from the Patriot Act?

Homeland Security needs to be abolished.
I wonder, though, if the person who patted Rand down, got hazardous duty pay...

I'll say it again. Who kept United Flight 93 from taking out either the White House or U.S. Capitol Building on September 11, 2001?

It wasn't the TSA (which didn't exist at the time), or the FBI, or even the U.S. Air Force. It was a group of courageous citizens - passengers on that plane - who kept the hijackers from completing their mission, and sacrificed their lives in the process.

The lesson from that incident is that citizens are better equipped to protect the government from terrorist attacks than the government is to protect citizens.

If people aren't up in arms about the two little old ladies who said they were strip searched at JFK, do you think they're going to be sympathetic to a U.S. senator? After all, he's part of the "establishment".

What upsets me the most about TSA is that I can't request who gives me the pat down

Rock, Rand Paul has been in congress less than 2 years and has butted heads with republicans quite a few times. That's not "establishment"

Understood.

But, if he calls and wants to complain to Janet Napolitano about how he was treated by the TSA, he gets Janet Napolitano. Do you think you'd get Janet Napolitano if you called DHS to complain about something?

Dr. Paul, while refusing and complaining, made national headlines. Maybe even some
foreign ones, as well.
We only make headlines if it gets ugly. Sho nuff ugly.

Poor, poor Rand Paul.  Do you think they made him turn his cell
phone off  also? I don't think there will be a loud outcry from the
flying public.

There has been a loud outcry from the public before this happened.

I don't fly as much as I used to, but I haven't seen one I'd request yet.

I think it is a small % who make a big issue of it.  Keep in mind that
thousands fly every day, follow the rules,  and get to their
destination

Following the rules is not really what's so bad... It's the rule itself that is bad. It may be a small percentge who make a big deal about it, and those are the ones who haven't gotten the rub down.

Re: Rand Paul detained by the TSA

dominoe, you missing this man, by far!
Airlines are private companies. If US Air had this kind of check points to get on their planes, I would be okay with this. Government agents are patting down, scanning, going through people's private property-so we can can get on a private owned jet.
This is going to expand. What happens when they they start pulling you to the side to keep you from going into McDonald's? Bring out the dogs on you for wanting to eat at a private owned diner?
They ate somewhere before they became bombs.

You make a big deal out of it and you gonna miss your flight.

I fly often and what pisses me off is when they pat down the 11yr old girl or boy or the lil old man or lady.  I know they're just doing their job but c'mon man.

How can they hope to stop terrorists when they have become the terrorists?

Yet another instance of wanton child abuse.

They pulled my son out of line for the "extra" security check when he was 4!!!  I thought my wife was going to go to jail over that.  As with most gov't jobs, the best and brightest don't always end up with those positions.

While they don't use much common sense, I'll give them credit...  they obviously were not profiling passengers!!!
