What will the match ups be tonight? And does it really matter if you win or come in 2nd in this divison this year? Looking forward to watching this tonight. Finally some good baseball to watch. At least I hope it's good. You never know these days.

I'm guessing it will be Irwin vs Wilkinson.  Should be a good game.

It does matter... Aside from bragging rights, #1 seed gets a first round bye in the playoffs.

My...some people have a short memory. Irwin's ONLY loss last year was to NWR. Ask the kids if NWR and MC is a rivalry. I do believe MC is still flying under the radar due to a couple of losses. They are solid and this should be a great game. Looking forward to seeing 2 of the best teams in the state tonight.

This was a great game with NW winning in the bottom of 9. Irwin kid is very impressive, bumped 94 in the first inning and consistantly hit 91 until the last inning, dropping to about 89. Two very good teams.

Humphreys is scheduled to pitch on Friday.  Hopefully, he will do as well as
Wes Wilkinson did last night.

i have to agree to a point in that he had gas but by the end he was running on fumes and who would'nt after a big outing from 94 early to about 89 in the end that was the only reason NWR was able to start getting to him.  but every horse need to be refueled now and then.. so on to Friday

Re: Madison Central @ Northwest Rankin

I was proud that NWR hung in there and never quit.  Some of the players that you never hear about really contributed.  Wes Wilkinson has consistently been the best pitcher all year, but you don't see his name mentioned much.  Wesley Watts made two great plays in the field and came through with a big hit in the 9th.
Benton Yancey broke up Irwin's no hitter and later got a second hit off him.  Kreg Garner picked off a runner at first and threw to 2nd to get another in a rundown.  He also got a big hit in the 9th.  I'm sure there were others but these are just the ones I remember.  It was definitely a team effort.  Hopefully, Friday's game will be as exciting.

Even considering that team effort, it is a shame that mc did not come out with the win.

150 pitches?  maybe not a cause of concern for junker, but for someone pushing 90 mph that is really risky.  Hope that arm bounces back.

Re: Madison Central @ Northwest Rankin

What difference does velocity have to do with stamina, durability, and the ability of the arm to bounce back? As long as we're not talking about a knuckleballer vs. a closer giving max effort every pitch, I don't see the relevance of velocity. Good mechanics and good genes will save wear and tear on an arm, regaurdless the result of the pitch, i.e. velocity.
