Re: Olive Branch Baseball 2012
OB has been destroyed by all the new schools in baseball and a few other sports. I neighbor of mine has a boy that is a senior on the team and said that they return 7 starters and all their pitching. I think he said that their are 14 or more seniors on this team too. Went and watched the summer team play Memphis Christian Brothers and I thought they looked much better than the teams in the past few years. Also been told that the off season has been rediculous this year, what is meant by that, not for sure. The team should be much improved this year, how much dont know but should make a good run in district and maybe playoffs. The kids are doing all they can to change the way things have been going and seem to really like what the head coach is doing this year wiht offseason in weight room and on field. I am pretty sure of the 14 seniors 4 of them have either committed or signed with a college, not a bad number.
again, this is from a parent of one of the current seniors

Hey golfgame! Maybe if football team can overcome the school spilt then baseball can too. We just haven't been very good in many many years. Hope to see that change.

Baseball doesn't get transfers like Football. Kind of hard to compare. But you're right... from what i hear it's been some years since they had a good year... is Cascio still the head coach?

Cascio has been in charge, but some of the problem is that there are no assistant coaches that have any baseball knowledge at all. It is a one man show. The last two years have been rough, but the 2008 team co won the district and won 20 games. The split is alot different for baseball, alot of OB kids went to Lewisburg and people around program know this. Last years team only had three seniors and that is a direct effect from the school splits, this year is the first big senior class for about two years. Football is different type of athlete and was not nearly effected by the school splits. Look at Lewisburg roster and howw many of those kids went to OB middle or OBES. The head coach is a good coach, just has been dealt a low level of talent and not much help with assistant coaches. Football coaches are the ones that help during the season and the team does not see them again until the next season. This is the problem that the principal does not want to fix or maybe care to. Again, the team has been down for two years, not many years, the 08 and 09 team both won 20 games, the 2010 team won 17 and last year was just bad. Records are acording to web site. Like I said in a earlier post the head coach has changed things according to my neighbor boy and parents and they looked much better over the summer. Who knows? obgrad, why dont you defend other OB sports like you do with football. I have criticized baseball, basketball and football. Just wondering? I dont have a dog in any of these fights, you must? a parent maybe? You are always so informed with OB athletics, surely you know what has happened to the other sports with the split, basketball was terrible last year and looks to be down again this year.

Re: Olive Branch Baseball 2012
You criticize the teams at OB that are actually winning? But feel the need to protect the baseball program from criticism? I just stated that we haven't been very good. That's the truth. I have nothing against Cascio and hope to see him and the team do well this year. I just find it ironic that you have the nerve to down the football program. Oh and we have had plenty of transfers in baseball. And I have no problem with it. The more the merrier!

Re: Olive Branch Baseball 2012
Just stating that the 2008 team wasdistrict co-champs with DC, I know my kid was on the team.
The baseball team has had one transfer contibute and that was last year with the Gaston kid from DC, other than that none.
obgrad, currently there is only one boys team that is not struggling and that is footbal. Basketball, baseball and soccer both had down years last year. Basketball is on the same road again this year.
