RE: Pujols AND CJ Wilson to Angels

Hate it. I've always loved Albert; saw him in his rookie season there, and of course the years after. Came out like a cannon and just never quit, and was always so nice and humble and giving of his time and money to good causes.

I love that he married his wife who already had a kid with Down's Syndrome. Not everybody can/will do that, and he's been so active in his Foundation for that cause.

Still like the guy; when I was younger, I loved getting their autographs. Would stand outside the place they entered and ask. One time, in one of his first years, I was outside and he was coming from his car to the building. I was out there and he saw me (I never liked yelling at them). He was coming over there to sign whatever I had, but this older guy (probably a guy selling that stuff, he kept standing by me all day trying to hawk in) ran over and almost stepped in front. Albert stopped and asked the guy to back up so he could get to me. The guy kept coming at him, so Albert stepped back and just asked me to come in the garage or whatever that thing is, and then he gave me his autograph. Wish I had a picture, but I don't. It was already kinda weird with the guy so desperate to get something he could sell, and Albert clearly wasn't amused with him. Autograph's faded pretty decently probably, if I know where it is, but it was the fact that he did that.

Hate we couldn't keep him. I can see taking the money (I guess... what do you do with all of that?). Was hoping he'd be one of those rare players that retires with the club. Many great memories of him, though- saw him hit two or three HR's once in person, think he broke some record that day? Wasn't that long after McGwire.

Baseball money is Monopoly-esque. I understand maximizing revenue and all, but really? They have got to get a hold on the inequities between haves & have-nots like yesterday or they are done.

My kids gotta eat.

More like I could feed the entire Domincan Republic on this year's salary, if I chose to.

Funny how people thought Pujols was the bestest ballplayer ever and now he sucks. Some St. Louis stores were giving his Cardinals jerseys away for free yesterday.

Definitely does not "suck". Best in the game.

St. Louis is a very big baseball town; I'm biased, but to me it is THE baseball town. They feel he's one of their own, and really expected him to turn the money down and be loyal to the Cards. And it wasn't out of the realm of possibility. But yes, I'm sure it's hitting a lot of people hard now.

First off, Cards fans need to stop whining. You just won the friggin World Series, and Pujols was nowhere near your only solid player. On the bright side, you have all this money on the table now to sign practically anybody you want on the market.

And I just LOVE people ripping Pujols for leaving. Nobody on planet earth could turn down 25 million dollars a year, in a tax free state, easily one of the best weather areas in the country, and oh yeah.. signing with a franchise that could EASILY get him another ring or two. Sure Cards fans have the right to be mad, but anybody without red and white glasses and puts theirselves in his shoes knows this wasnt even a thought for him and it shouldnt have been. I disagree highly with the amount of money that floats around in baseball, but if its throw in your face on top of the best circumstances possible, its human nature to take it. Case closed.
